Actually it's fair to say that LaFace kicked their ASSES on the charts and in sales from that time. lol

And that is why I say it's easy--and fair-- to pick J&L OVERALL based on their sheer longevity and the track record that brings. But when both entities were in operation simultaneously, during the time mentioned, LaFace was kicking their asses.

I find this hard to believe. The late 80s/early 90s period was when Janet Jackson was at her peak in sales and on the charts. Add the other artists Jam & Lewis had at the time and it looks to me like they at least had equal success with L.A. and Babyface. But I don't have their respective discographies in front of me so I could be forgetting a lot. I always preferred Jam & Lewis so that might be why I remember their output more clearly.

JJ&TL's Janet projects alone outsold anything LaFace ever did....

Aside from ii and crazysexycool yeah smile remember vibe asked Janet why she hadn't worked with diddy or the fabulous babyface? I almost felt it was a condescending question like she's outdated for not doing so at the time or like vr wasn't worth shit. I feel vr was too underrated for its time and is her most timeless album, where are face and diddy today? Sorry just had a former Stan moment, still love Janet but I'm not obsessed like I used to be

I'm glad I don't have to choose. I'll give the slight edge to LaFace. Emotionally, I'm not sure a Flyte Tyme song has moved me quite like hearing "I'm Ready" or "Where Will You Go" or "End of the Road."

Flyte Tyme, hands DOWN. They went through so many different incarnations in their production style/values yet remained constantly current and still DO 2 this very day. From Klymaxx's "Wild Girls" to Ledisi's "Higher Than This." They're always fresh. Not 2 mention that they're true innovators. How many times has that 808 cowbell sound been cloned? My vote goes to Jimmy & Terry. smile

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I agree with U on VR. But I have to stick up a little for BabyFace. He actually is still writing hits for Rnb artist. Most recently Anthony Hamilton's hit RnB song "Pray 4 me"..He just is under the radar & don't get much attention anymore...But he still making & cashing them checks.. biggrin

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Flyte Tyme, no contest to me. Love the work they did with Janet, SOS band, Cherrelle and Alexander Oneal... the main soundtrack of my 80/90s was FT productions. nod
