Compton rapper also confesses his childhood crush on Brandy (Watch)
*Compton is back on the Hip Hop map thanks to the top debut of Kendrick Lamar’s album “good kid, m.A.A.d. city.” The 25-year-old rapper raked in 241,000 sales on Oct. 22; topped out on Billboard’s R&B/Hip Hop chart, and hit no. 2 on Billboard’s 100 chart - right behind Taylor Swift’s “Red” album - making it the top selling album for any new artist debut in 2012. Lamar is on top of his game early. Without hesitation, he’s caught the attention of industry heads all around, and was dubbed “Hip Hop’s next big star” by XXL magazine and awarded Lyricist of the Year at BET’s Hip Hop Awards. He’s received rave reviews from several outlets, including the L.A. Times, Rolling Stone, and USA Today. But he’s not bigger than his childhood dreams. In a recent interview with RapUp.com, he talked about his big crush on singer Brandy Norwood. “I found this four-leaf clover and my wish was to meet Brandy for my birthday,” he explained. “The wish never came true, though.” Maybe she’ll have him now since he’s a big star and all. Check out the interview:
