Why does this forum make a tsunami of threads on artists that they know MOST posters are not interested in?

or threads on artists that get alot of criticism?

Do you do it to troll?

Ive been on other forums and they dont make as half as many threads on artists they claim are overrated or they dont care for like this forum does because its not relevant to them and yes yes I admit sometimes in replying in those threads but thats not to express enjoyment its usually to constructively criticize razz

I can see threads on those artists being made here if their was a big interest....but its obvious there isnt and people still make threads on them :/

I know that this is a forum and people are free to post whatever they want and nobody is anybodys mother or father to dictate what someone should or should not be posting but this is not rocket science lol Prince site aside, YOU KNOW THE TASTE OF WHAT PEOPLE ARE mostly INTERESTED IN HERE lol

WE KNOW THIS! So why do people feel the need to make threads on artists that are not an interest?

We know most of the artists that are liked here and the ones that are not popular here and get alot of bashing (really dont need to list already obvious)....

Soooo...

Why make threads about them when you know that? eek

and especially when it has zero relevance to music at times?

And then we have to hear all this shit from people insisting why they dont understand why so and so gets so much hate and bashing but then you have the same people making worthless baited threads on these artists knowing that it is going to lead to harsh criticism because NOBODY IS INTERESTED IN THEM HERE mad

Its like a never ending cycle here that has partially killed the overall atmosphere of this forum.

I really dont understand it, find its a waste of time and exactly kinda annoying, Im not going to lie neutral . I guess one can simply ignore those threads but I personally find it ridiculous how someone has to constantly go to a forum that is specifically targeted to a certain music listerner and demographic and see a bunch of threads on artists that are not of interest of the majority

End of rant.

Its ALOT more than KCOOL but Im not tryna call nobody out.... lol

Its not a matter of right and wrong

but I just dont understand why some constantly make threads on artists that they know are not popular here...

You can go on other forums like Okayplayer and you will hardly ever see a thread on Rihanna, Chris, Bieber Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy, Will Smith etc

That's just why I haven't been on this org much. It gets annoying. This has turned into TMZ more than anything.

That's why I would like moderators to step up alittle bit more, because the garbage gets redundant. The responses for certain threads are going to be the same each and every time, so why keep them going with the drama and such. I've seen stuff on here that is beyond extreme, including threats and disrespectful comments toward other posters. It's a mess.

DEFINITLY nod

I dont think the moderators are here most of the time or maybe they mod the other Prince section more. Whatever the case may be, there definitly needs to be more authority because some people here get away with saying alot of disrespectful things.

In Eddie Murphy voice: "Lets get the ish out in the opening" lol This forum has really changed from how it was a couple years ago... maybe thats why people find enjoyment in makeing those redundant threads knowing that its just going to lead to arguements and harsh criticism to give people more to talk about.

I thought that Outkast legends thread was pretty fun to talk in lol and not everyone agreed in that thread but it was still respectful razz

... there are alot of things we can talk about that we exactly care about and relates to music besides the same o same o topics that is just going to lead to alot of drama.

I think it's more than just posters who post threads on artists the majority don't like. I think it's the strong arguments based on different opinions that arise based on these artists. I've read quite a few threads about artists that were disliked but they were kept civil until some obsessed fan took other's opinions to heart and became children about it. I like a good debate when it remains respectful but when it becomes someone being ridiculed for how they feel that's the main problem I have. Like the old saying goes, opinions are like assholes...everybody has one. lol

Excuse all of you, but I've made a Boy Krazy thread early this morning and no one reply to it yet. mad For anything, I'm trying to make the org interesting without giving into the temptation of doing another f***ing anti-Illuminati thread in P&R.

It's called "Important Question!" I'd link to it but the link sends you to somewhere else.

Well, you have to admit, if people didn't come here to get folks all riled-up with posts about how WONDERFUL Beyonce, Rhiana, Justin Bieber and Chris Brown are, people would be complaining about how boring it is around here.biggrin Not to mention the ENDLESS Jackson threads. biggrin

Im noticing the Jackson threads are getting a little bashing..... its quite obvious unlike the other artists... that is of a bigger interest. Janet, Jackson 5, etc

the other non popular mainstream artists... NOBODY LIKES so its baffling why their are constant threads on them confused

Well they say don't like it then don't bump it. I mean for instance a thread about an article of Rihanna/Katy Perry achieving another #1 on billboard actually can actually turn into an interesting discussion about current trend of music, so I think it's hard to set the standard. Though, this is not to acknowledge the fact that I also have seen hopeless threads about Lana Del Rey's pussy cola youtube remix or Willow Smith rapping but I think people still comment on those threads just for fun...are those the kind of posts you're talking about?

Also, I don't think we should make rules on what should/shouldn't be posted based on who's popular among Prince fans. Imo what a lot of current young artists are doing is not that different from for example what Madonna or Janet Jackson did, really, and honestly talent-wise I can actually think of hundreds of current artists who are even better than those two. But since they're the popular ones among posters on this website, threads about them should be allowed while we can't talk about Swizz Beatz or Justin Timberlake? To me that doesn't make a lot of sense.

I agree

it. I mean for instance a thread about an article of Rihanna/Katy Perry achieving another #1 on billboard actually can actually turn into an interesting discussion about current trend of music, so I think it's hard to set the standard.

But we have seen time and time again those threads always leads to harsh criticism and bashing and its evident those artists are not popular here. I would agree with you if that was something that was exactly being done but it isnt.

Though, this is not to acknowledge the fact that I also have seen hopeless threads about Lana Del Rey's pussy cola youtube remix or Willow Smith rapping but I think people still comment on those threads just for fun...are those the kind of posts you're talking about?

I talking about the Smiths, Chris Brown, Rihanna, Beyonce, Bieber, Perry and so forth threads as well as the threads non related to music specifically.

Also, I don't think we should make rules on what should/shouldn't be posted based on who's popular among Prince fans.

I dont think their should be rules neither because people should be free to talk about what they want. I am just trying to seek understanding in why people post about certain artists and things when its evident its not popular for the most part here on the org.

Imo what a lot of current young artists are doing is not that different from for example what Madonna or Janet Jackson did,

I think Control, Rhythm Nation and Velvet Rope is ALOT different from Talk that Talk, 4, Teenage Dream etc I get what your saying but the overall quality of those two artists excluding a couple of albums is alot stronger than the pop music now.

really, and honestly talent-wise I can actually think of hundreds of current artists who are even better than those two.

Your probably right but that doesnt mean they dont have strong catalogues of their own

But since they're the popular ones among posters on this website, threads about them should be allowed while we can't talk about Swizz Beatz or Justin Timberlake? To me that doesn't make a lot of sense.

But I dont really see a tsunami of Madonna threads here besides the sticky... and Janet gets alot of threads here because its evident there is a bigger interest for her here and alot of her threads relates to music ( I admit sometimes it isnt music related) but for the most part it is related to music.

I could see if it she was getting heavily bashed in those music related threads like Beyonce and Rihanna get but it seems to be a vital interest..... to be honest, I think a sticky should be made on her here.

Hilarious comment. Mind you, there is alot of interest in the Jacksons as it draws the gossipers and those with a finer tase in entertainment.

There's 40 threads + 5 sticky threads on the 1st page, so there's 40 other topics (not including this one) for you to look at.

I know that already but I dont see what so wrong in discussing why people make annoying threads knowing that its just going to start drama and its unpopular here. neutral
