I don't what was so bad about it..she has a basic voice and did what she could with it.
Mary J. Blidge at the All-Star Game was pretty awful. Also Kat Deluna at the Cowboys game a few years back.
Demi wasn't that bad, I'll give her a 5.5/10. | |

I also didn't think it was any more awful than these caterwauling diva renditions generally are.
I would say this, though: although I dislike national anthems at the best of times, I do think there should be some kind of distinction between the style in which you sing one and the way you sing some trivial little pop ballad. I can't stand the way they all try to outdo each other in contorting the melody, over-emoting, adding all these cheap little breathy expressions, etc. It just seems trivialising to me.
