Rick Springfield Launches "Songs for the End of the World" October 9th (AGENDA FOR NYC 1st week)

Rick has had a busy year once again, with touring non-stop also a movie called "Affair of the heart" which was all done by his fans and him took the Film Festival world by storm this year, and getting its proper release now on dvd. Rick has once again taken a unique way to releasing new music. His new set will see 4 versions of his new album all with special added bonuses to each, thats right all versions will have different stuff, this was also done last time around when Rick released his "venus in overdrive" cd, versions at Best Buy, Amazon and Itunes were all different with their bonus tracks. That cd was a big success for Rick launching him into the top 20 on its release. Now Rick is back with a brand new studio cd that kind of taps into a lot of his spiritual beliefs and also features 4 special album covers.

'Songs For The End Of The World' is the brand new studio album by one of music's most enduring legends, Rick Springfield. Filled with personal lyrics and giant hooks, it's a melodic/pop rock tour de force proving once again that there's always been much more to Rick Springfield's body of work than his 17 top 40 hits and signature #1 hit 'Jessie's Girl'.

Highlights include the vintage three-chord rocker 'I Hate Myself', the anthemic 'Our Ship's Sinking', the mid tempo ballad 'You & Me', and the explosive album opener 'Wide Awake'.

As a special bonus for fans, the album will feature access to unique digital, cloud-based content such as bonus videos, collectable acoustic tracks, photo galleries and more that can be accessed by scanning an image inside the album cover using the free Rick Interactive app.

Springfield also enlisted fans via social media to submit videos of themselves singing the chorus of 'I Hate Myself'. All of these vocal contributions have been included in the final mix of the track on the album, and fans names will be included in the credits. In addition, a 30-minute version of 'I Hate Myself', which includes individual fan submitted vocals, will be included with the digital bonus content.

Songs for the End of the World will be released October 9 in four (4) versions whose cover art depict Rick's tongue-in-cheek vision of possible scenarios for the "end of the world". Currently, the "Armageddon" version is available for pre-order on Amazon.com at: http://amzn.com/B008XNPLZ0

Information on the remaining three (3) versions; Tarot, Mayan and Cold War will available closer to release date. (Oct. 9).

Track Listing:
1. Wide Awake
2. Our Ship's Sinking
3. I Hate Myself
4. You & Me
5. Gabriel
6. A Sign of Life
7. My Last Heartbeat
8. Joshua
9. Love Screws Me Up
10. I Found You
11. Depravity
12. One Way Street

Interesting....

I have been kind of surprised he has not done more acting in recent years, even if it was stints on the SciFi channel's TV shows or movies. Still, it is good he is turning to alternative ways to get his music out there!

hes been picking and choosing, he did go back a few times to General Hospital, more to help them with ratings, also a few shows on Californication, and a few other random things tossed in, but hes basically been on the road pretty nonstop since going back to recording in 1998, and since then he has had a great run of albums. Looking forward to this new release, its been awhile since the last "studio" Album, which was "Venus In Overdrive" which was in July 2008.

Hes going all out for this release more than any he has before, his official site has snippets of each song, it ROCKS this guy is freaking tight and that band he has, its true what they say, touring and being together just makes bands better, they are super tight!

Loving the tracks i have heard, its solid, hard rocking at times a few softer ballads but mostly Very Catchy hook driven songs, very raw and live sounding once again, i have to admit, but since KARMA in 1999 Rick has been on an album run of greatness that has not faltered anywhere...one of the strongest runs ever!!

I am sure this is not true. You have never heard "Jessie's Girl"?

I don't think Rick was big outside of the US. Certainly wasn't in the UK.

Its a cool sounding CD once again, this would be everythihng since 1998 he has done having a great progression in material, getting harder and edgier as he gets older, def an artist that has gotten better with age.

RICK is planning an all out assault on NYC this week. He will be doing the Today Show, The Kelly and whoever show, Fox and Friends and some others i think GMA too, also on Tuesday aand Wednesday his "indie film" Affair of the Heart is screened for one week at the IFC in NYC and he will be on hand those 2 nights for fans, im going wednesday to a meet and greet with RICK!!! Also Wednesday morning RICK will be hanging in the Subway station and may do a few songs there too, location will be tweeted hours before.

And last but not least the info on the 4 exclusive versions of the cd has been made available

Best BUy will carry one version with exclusive tracks

Itunes will carry another with other exlcusives

Amazon will carry the other 2, however you cannot choose which you want AMAZON does the picking so you could get the same 2 if you order 2, its a gamble that may make one CD very very scarce im hearing.

All cds will have different bonus tracks and interactive content to make each purchase meaningful to the buyer

I saw a commercial today that announced Rick is going to be on the Dr. Oz show sometime this week.

Oh thought the meet and greet was free. When he did the book tour there was a contest that I entered and didn't win DAMN. I've seen Rick twice and he's always great live. Time Square would be cool to see him.

There are 3 sets of tickets posted on his official FACEBOOK page, he is doing a contest for tomorrows showing. Also his train route tomorrow starts at 8AM at 34th street, and then on to the 1 train and who knows where he will go throughout the day, he said to follow twitter to keep close.

The Tarot edition has the most tracks. I've just downloaded it and am having a friend ship the Best Buy edition over as that's the version I want.

I've just started listening. "Wide Awake" and "I Hate Myself" are fucking awesome.

Got the itunes version and bought the best buy version in the store, ordered one from amazon to see which i get (they have 2) and then will at some point gamble and try to get the other one since you arent able to pick covers from amazon.

As for the album im playing it to death, the bonus stuff on Best Buy is great, even though 1 track was available through itunes before and the 2 demos were on very limited edition cds from his fan site, alot may not have this the stuff, plus the Track LET ME IN is great, then you also when scanning the interactive pic with the free app you are taken to more downloads, depending on the cd you have, if you dont have the phone required he gives you a website, called RickInteractive.com and there all you do is click the cd you got and then must type in the upc on the bar code and boom you are taken to your downloads.

The cd is great, the track "wide awake" is a blazing guitar number, his playing is so so disregarded, but what people dont get is that alot of times in the early days up until his 1998 KARMA cd he often was doing the records on his own, playing most instruments. Its really recently since 2000 that he has assembled this lineup of his band and they are so in-synch its scary.

yeah its been a crazy week, from the new cd, to a cd signing to a meeting to a film, to the subway station, to going to see the film again, and then topping it off this morning at the GMA show, this guy knows and loves his fans, never saw this kind of connection before on any artist. And this furthers my belief that YOUR FANS always want to hear new stuff when you do shows. Rick will be back in NYC November 30th at the Best Buy theatre (nokia) for a concert, and then in 2013 kick off a full tour again
