BREAKING NEWS: Rick Ross & Young Jeezy -- Fight at BET Awards, Shots Fired

A fight broke out backstage at the BET Hip Hop Awards tonight between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy that resulted in shots being fired .. sources at the awards tell TMZ. According to our sources, Ross and Jeezy exchanged words backstage and started pushing and shoving each other. We're told BET security and bodyguards for each of the rappers eventually separated the two. Our sources on the scene say that after the fight had been broken up, a member of Rick Ross' entourage pulled out a gun while in the parking lot and shots were fired. We're told Jeezy and Ross are still at the awards, which are being taped tonight in Atlanta and air next month. A spokesperson for the Atlanta Police Department tells TMZ, "Shortly after 7:15 pm Saturday, a fight broke out in the parking lot at the Atlanta Civic Center (where the BET Awards were being taped) between two groups. Atlanta Police Department officers on scene responded to break up the fight and used OC spray in the process. Individuals fled the scene. There were no arrests or reports of serious injuries. Reports of shots fired appear to be untrue." Our sources maintain shots were fired. We're also told that 50 Cent got into it with a rapper named Gunplay, a protégé of Rick Ross. Can't we all just get along?

I read this on yahoo last night. Why don't they just cancel this awards show

already if you're gonna continue to have this kind of nonsense. It's just a

black eye for the whole genre. These two morons are in their mid thirties.

Hate to say it but this is not shocking news. Sometimes I think this behavior is expected and accepted.

Does he have a distribution deal with the label?

No-one who calls themself "Jeezy" should be in any position of authority. What an awful name, It sounds like a nickname from a Disney kids show.

BET was finished when they removed BET NEWS with Jackie Reid and BET TONIGHT with Tavis Smiley/Ed Gordon back in 2000

the network played the role when it claimed it was removing those two programs momentarily as producers were looking to revamp both shows but when the fall season started and neither program was brought back......

the network was done at that point.....and went to the slaughter.....

you can't be considered a real network when you don't even carry the news......

the best moment since that grand finale was when Rick James called out that lady pretending like she didn't know who he was.....the night he performed on stage with Teena Marie in years.....

it was real.....

This channel sold its SOUL a long long time ago, its scary that people were actually worried about cancelling or ending 106th and Park like that show is some important source, shit that thing was part of the problem to begin with.

Well if youre gonna FIRE shots you mine as well take a shot at the biggest fattest target in history. Stevie Wonder could fire and hit that disgusting blob wannabe rapper. And i dont wanna hear people talk about how that fat fuck has FLOW, yeah hes got flow alright, hes got a whole ocean in his whale belly. As for Jeezy, the fact that Atlantic handed him the keys to anything is why WARNER needs to go under, and it will very very soon.

BET began to decline as early as the late 80s....

even during the years when VIDEO SOUL was the most prominent program on the network

you could see the decline begin by increment stages

the initial stage was creating a generational divide where programming would become exclusively youth oriented

then in the process eviscerating culture along the way, made possible by phasing out the adult demographic

there no longer stood any balance,

the deterioriation of all this stuff occured at the same period, the late 1980s

I agree with both of these statements.
