Updated: En Vogue Members Sue Each Other

July 2012

Link

After reuniting in 2010 for a new album and tour, En Vogue has splintered once again. This time around, members Dawn Robinson and Maxine Jones have defected to create a whole new version of the group. Naturally, the divas have taken to Twitter to bicker about it.

The original members reunited in 2010 after Dawn Robinson left the group in 1997. En Vogue’s plan was to reunite for a 20th anniversary album and tour, but the same problems that caused Dawn to leave in 1997 reappeared. Cindy, Terry, Dawn, and Maxine were plagued by arguments, nasty attitudes, and disagreements over money. Those issues forced Dawn Robinson to exit the group for a second time. However, things are different this time because she took Maxine with her and they are starting their own version of the girl group.

Dawn Robinson announced the “new” En Vogue on twitter, saying, “MAXINE & I HAVE LEFT THE BUILDING & NOW WE’RE REHEARSING FOR AN EV TOUR W 2 “NEW” GIRLS. WE WILL BE IN UR CITY SOON SO COME PARTY WITH US!”

The remaining members of the original line up, Cindy and Terry, responded to Robinson’s tweets with a statement where they acknowledged the drama but didn’t go into detail.

In a joint message Cindy and Terry stated the following:

Dear EnVogue fans,

In regards to the recent Twitter and Facebook posts alleging that Terry and Cindy have replaced Maxine Jones with Rhona, we would like to respond. Terry and Cindy are not replacing Maxine Jones. We have however asked Rhona to fill in temporarily so that we can continue to bring live shows to our fans. Thus far, Rhona has only done three shows with us since June 2012.

The group has always added someone whenever a member has been unable or unwilling to perform or has left the group. Terry and I have not kicked Maxine out of the group. There are always two sides to a story and many internal facts that you the fans aren’t hearing about. In an effort to not air dirty laundry, or appear to point the finger at anyone, we respectfully choose to remain silent on the internal issues. We appreciate you the fans continuing to support Envogue individually, and as a whole.

Thank you,

Cindy and Terry

It's good that Cindy and Terry are being classy about this whole thing, according to their response.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

These girls are the best vocal girl group that has came out over the last 20 years.... they need to get their stuff together and work it out. I hate to see real talent wasted...... I LOVE this group

Is anyone really surprised. Dawn stated from the get go that she was going to do

the tour but she wasn't going to do an album with them for whatever reasons which

i believe were label and contract related. One of my co workers went to see them

at a club in Charlotte during the CIAA tournament earlier this year and he bought

the VIP ticket where you got to meet and eat with them backstage after the show.

I believe those tickets were 125 dollars. He told me only 12 people or so bought

VIP tickets and they had so much food they couldn't eat it all. He said the ladies

were very nice and put on a good show but they were shocked that they didn't get

a better turnout for the VIP treatment. lol

Maxine has left the group before and was not on the last two albums En Vogue released.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Naw I'm not surprised but its really a shame that such a great girl group as En Vogue can't get past egos and cattiness to come together long enough to tour and do an album.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

They just need to quit. They're too old to be having conflict.

Like I'm losing sleep over anything En Vogue has done anyway...

They died once Dawn left them the first time in '96.

either do it or don't do it. just stop arguing about it. they were great, but they're hardly on the level, individually or as a group, that there needs to be this much drama surrounding whether they exist or not. they ought to remember that the world got along just fine without them.

If the issue is really about Dawn not wanting to do recording CONtracts anymore, then why not all 4 of the EnVogue originals start their own independent label and do music as independent artists?

At this point, I could give a fuck. They had that chance to be legends years ago but due to some financial issues, ego and beef, they fucked it up. They played their own part into the disenssion as well as the industry. Now look at them. Though I admit I admire that Terry and Cindy have answered in a dignified manner, it's not good for the group in general. Like I said, just end En Vogue, put it out of its misery and move on.

I've lost faith in them too Timmy. At this point these ladies would probably have a

hard time getting a solo effort off.

Their ages are between 51 and 42 so yeah I doubt no one would do a solo album at this point.

sigh...I really loved this group back in the 90s, but I knew when Dawn left the group the 1st time that they were finished as a top act. They weren't like the Supremes or Destiny's Child, which were centered on 1 frontwoman for the most part. No one except the hardcore fans got to know the individual personalities of the 4 ladies of En Vogue, so that's why none of them have had much success once the original roster was broken up. They really should have been even bigger than they were but like many other good groups, they couldn't get along after a while lol disbelief

they are starting their own version of the girl group

disbelief it's ridiculous when there are two different versions of the same group. If these ladies can't get it together and work things out, fans should just avoid seeing them altogether.

Yes, she B so fine. Cindy remains the most pleasingly attractive one in the group. Be still, my heart.

As much as i like Dawn and she was my favorite with the group back in the

day she hasn't exactly handled things the right way. I understand her beef

with the label and the producers because they were pretty much raped in

terms of royalties but to shit on your groupmates because of it wasn't right.

I just hope business conflict don't get in the way of their friendship.
