R & B DiVAS: What's with this KEKE WYATT? My wife asked me to check this show out with her. ANd let me just say, all of those ladies on the show deserve their props, they really did bring some contribution to the 90s and early 2000s r&b music scene, they really laid the foundation for today's top r&b female acts. but there is one female who I have a question mark beside, KEKE!!! she is a beautiful lady and can sing her butt off!! she could sing circles around these new divas of today..but i feel sorry for her husband, he has to be a great man of God,because any other guy would have bounced!!! So ladies and gentlemens, is it ok for her to act like that or not?

Anybody that stabs another man for no reason (other than him wanting to divorce her) is not real stable. I'm not watching that show but it's obvious they put Keke on the show for the drama.

I'm happy you started a thread on this because I've been wondering about this chick too. I never really even heard of her before but man it seems she has some serious issues. I know we all do but something is really off about her. On one hand she seems so confident but clearly has insecurity issues too. That poor husband of hers. Then again, he allows her behaviour to carry on by doing whatever she says and always being there. If I were one of her friends it would drive me insane that he always has to tag along. NO! I don't feel her behaviour is acceptable but her husband seems to be ok with it. What a wimp!

Like I told my wife, there are times we will be together and do the husband and wife thing, but there are times when I wanna watch the game with the fellas and talk BS with one another and there are times I want her to go shopping with her ladies go for drinks, go out to eat..to me, I think thats the way it should be..but like u said he lets her do it, I think he's scared of her

KeKe has issues, and I think her husband is kinda scared of her too- after that other cat got stabbed. She's been through a lot in the industry- trying to get her career off the ground. But her and Avant's cover of "My First Love" will always be her signature song.
I did buy her album 2010 Who Knew, it was pretty good. She had another album out last year too.

I admit I have short term memory loss about that because I don't know if she said that but still why would she stab someone because of it? Just leave, right? Yeah I know, it's easy to say but still? That's real extreme.

That's what I heard too, I heard dude was beating her, and he got shanked!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I see. But this is what I don't get it, why even go that way? I mean I guess I can understand but that's still a crime. And yet you have to wonder if she was attracted to people like that.

I hear what you sayin man, but when you're fighting fro your life you will do anything to survive, and if that mean stabbing that fool so be it.

I guess. I mean I didn't live with them so who knows how she was feeling. Reminds me of a "Snapped" episode lol

She does have some problems. I feel sorry for her new husband, which is like her bitch....(sorry to be bold, but she has him on a tight leash.) Check me out and add me on:

I saw a preview of the show while watching Unsung on the TV One on Demand and yeah she's out there.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
The positive thing is, she seems to try to get help- from looking at the preview for next week. Nicci Gilbert needs to see somebody too, she has some control issues too. That's why Big Jim told his vocal coach- "that's what happens to a career-an attitude like that."
I want to know what turned her off from singing. She basically hates to sing now.

Judging from what she went through with Brownstone, anything's up for debate on that. I did read about Monifah's issues. Apparently she got all doped up around the time "Touch Me" became a hit?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah, I surprised about Monifah, it seems like she's working her way back. The industry is a bitch!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
To put it frank, I'm actually not that surprised. I had always wondered why she fell off the face of the earth. It was like when I was wondering what had happened to Miki Howard and it turned out she was doped up. Not trying to assume but...yeah.

Yeah Keke is off her rocker a little bit. I saw her open for Maze last year. She talked off the wall shit half way through her set. She couldn't get on the same page with whoever was controlling her cd she was singing to. When she did sing though she didn't sound bad at all. I watch whenever i'm over to my mom's. Nicci is crazy too but it seemed like Syleena was gonna check that ass. Don't laugh at my funk
This funk is a serious joint

I wonder if Big-Jim said the SAME thing about his old Boss Mo'nique? You remember he use to be the Musical Director of her BET late-night talk show. BET originally signed Mo'nique with a Multi-Million dollar contract deal a FIRST in the Networks history. Mo wanted mo-money after season 2 and BET hit her with that same Skillet she swung @ Precious and everybody had to pack their bags and leave the studio...
I'm glad he's got a gig with this reality show...I havent seen the show but I'm gonna set it up on my DVR and check it out....

According to her, she actually did stab him in self defense because he was physically abusive towards her. So there was a reason.
Also, there really isn't that much drama, that is if you count the type of drama that is on the Basketball Wives and Real Housewives show.
KeKe isn't the one causing any conflict between the ladies, it's actually Nicci from Brownstone doing that. She's a real annoying bitch and you can clearly tell why the group (Brownstone) broke up. The woman can still sing her ass off but she's always talking about how she has lost her passion in singing...okay if that was the case then why agree to do the show and the album (the whole purpose of the show)??? She makes no damn sense whatsoever and I don't have patience with women like that.
Back to KeKe, yes she definitely has issues and owns it. She knows she has a problem, especially with extremely low self-esteem. That's the thing that irks me the most about her, how the hell can you be married to someone when you don't even love yourself? Don't you have to love yourself before loving anyone else? Then she got a billion and one kids on top of that. IMO her husband doesn't really help the situation because he does EVERYTHING SHE SAYS. She's stated that she doesn't trust men at all..PERIOD. I don't know a man who would stick around knowing that because of his woman's past issues with men that she doesn't trust him. That's pretty unfair....however, he's still there tagging along to EVERY SINGLE EVENT she has which I find to be over the top and ridiculous. I couldn't have no guy up under me like that 24/7.
Anyway, the show isn't the best on, but it's not filled with unnecessary drama either so it's not a pain to watch. I do like Faith Evans, Syleena Johnson and Monifah. [Edited 9/15/12 6:23am] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

She sure does. That scene with Big Jim talking to the other guy about Nicci had me at because he basically said what I was thinking. Nicci's definitely got a chip on her shoulder regarding singing that's obviously coming from whatever she experienced in the past, but now she's all quick to be defensive and not willing to compromise. She really needs to get a handle on why and what caused her passion for singing to leave in the first place before she can move forward. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

My other post didn't print out, but reading yours, you basically just saved me from going back to re-type it
I will say that the one thing that draws me into the show is that I love watching the ladies sing, even when it's informally. It's some SICK talent amongst this group of women, and every time I hear one of them bust a note I just scratch my head confused (or maybe just mad ), trying to understand how in the hell do we have all these auto-tuned, non-sangin', non-talented, 8 count dancin' puppets ruling the music airwaves today??? Where in the hell did we all go wrong with not giving props & praise to people with real talent in the music industry? Just think of it, only 20 years ago, people were on the radio who could actually sing. In the last 15 years I ain't never heard NOBODY on the radio do what Keke Wyatt could do, 72hours after having a baby, riffing off the cuff with six damn octaves and never had a vocal coach in her life

Ding ding ding ding!!!!
EXACTLY!!!
One one hand, Nicci is so clearly a Type A, control freak personality, and clearly very competent and accomplished at many things---but there is something that obviously happened during her time with Brownstone that has scarred her ass and makes her act out (in that very controlling, "I'm in control, I'm going to control, let me get this all under control " way of hers), it's like her control issues are amplified because of some elephant in the room (or rather from her past) that she hasn't wrestled with and gotten victory over.
