I like when I hear them, which is hardly ever. They had such mad ideas.

there's also a set of KLF recovered and remastered EP's that came out recently. they look like bootlegs but seem to maybe have some official links. there's also other stuff that's been out lately that similarly has a bootleg feel but seems to come from master tapes like they are almost official bootlegs

I was very dissapointed when I bought their cd and found out the single versions of their songs were not on it. As a kid I really liked their bombastic singles.
Now I enoy their cd with the cd versions much more, it's pretty relaxed actually.

I keep a CD single of this. The novelty never seems to wear off, because the fusion is perfection.

The Recovered & Remastered EP's are good. Quite a few versions of tracks that I never heard before, and overall the quality is very very good. As pointed out elsewhere, they could have fitted all the tracks on fewer discs, but it's a small niggle. I think they are bootlegs, maybe someone got a hold of lower gen recordings than what we have been used to. Certainly a lot of KLF boots of this kind seem to be sourced from vinyl, these though....I'm not so sure, they sound very clean.
Great stuff, and I'm very grateful to the person who hooked me up to these.

Likely bootlegged but you never know with KLF.
Bill Drummond is a friend of a friend but I don't know whether he'd speak on it, official or otherwise. Their whole catalog has been deleted and out of print for 20 years or so.
I hope they come back and wreak a bit of havoc on this tired old industry. Just as long as they don't burn any more money. |

I love reading about all their exploits

Big Time KLF fan here... VERY clever and admirable/insane band...
Militant is right though, if The JAMs came back now, it could be the New World Order the REAL music Industry have been wanting/waiting for...
A second coming of the JAMs... hmmm...
BTW, It's Grim Up North...

I think that the idea of The KLF returning to make and release music is a terrible one. One of the reasons why they deleted their back catalogue is because it's over.
I hope to fuck they stick to their book and art stunts. A return to music would just make them like every other greedy bastard mundane retro act.

i don't expect any new music, but some reissues would be good, or compilations. like what ZTT did with the FGTH etc stuff. a 2cd of white room with bonus tracks and remixes. a 2cd best of KLF, a 12" remix 2cd compilation etc

I'm with you on the dated novelty act thing, but they went under so many different names and essentially, lampooned the industry (Doctorin' The Tardis anyone?)... with the garbage that'sout there now, they could probably rip the sh*t out of it in the way they know how and still make number one, lol.
The KLF used symbolism and semiotics in their music - essentially saying, "the industry is pile of crap and we're gonna prove it to you"
There's a book called "Will Pop Eat Itself" from around 1992 which is devotes a few chapters to the JAMs - dated as it may be... in retrospect it's actually very accurate... recommended.
