Ricky Bell gives New Edition update RICKY BELL: New Edition member gives EUR an update.
(Feb. 14, 2003) They came on the scene described as a new and energetic Jackson Five of the '80s and their debut album, "Candy Girl," soared the R&B and Pop charts when New Edition hit the scene in 1983. Now, the new edition of New Edition is quietly under wraps as the famed boy group that made us love or become Candy Girls, went on to grand solo projects and then put us through a Heartbreak, comes back together for another music hit go-round. Ronnie, Ralph, Ricky, Mike and Johnny have headed back into the studio to record a new album with the help of Sean "Puffy" Combs, and thanks to our inside track, group crooner Ricky Bell talked to us about some of the particulars of the project and the growth of the group. "Everything is going well right now," he assured us. "[The group's] been down in South Beach partying, having a good time, and recording the hottest album ever to be recorded in the history of albums being recorded. New Edition is doing it." It's that good? "It's that good," Bell confirmed. "Just the vibe of it. The energy feels good, let alone the music and the stuff that we're coming up with it. It's just incredible. Words cannot explain it, but I'm having a good time. All the fellas are in good health, everyone's doing good, everyone sounds great. The vibe of working with Puffy and the Bad Boy family is going beautiful. We're having a lot of fun doing it." Bell told us that the group began working on the album when Puffy was still in limbo as far as major label distribution. He had just left Arista when he signed on to work with New Edition. But Bell says the group never really worried where the project would end up. "That part of it [was] not even a concern of ours. We figured wherever we go, we were going to be fine with that. We're focusing on just being creative and creating a good atmosphere and establishing a good relationship between New Edition and Bad Boy and it's been going really well." Apparently, the fellas of New Edition had been friends and fans (and vice versa) of Puffy for a while. Bell said that Puffy had an interest in the group for a while before coming out last summer to catch a few of their reunion dates. "We've been friends with Puff for a minute. The last tour we did, this past summer, he came out and checked out a couple of shows and just basically felt the energy and saw the response from the audiences. He came and hung out with us for a minute and we talked about it and it just felt right so we made it happen," Bell explained. their album is expected in June. I was just about 2 make a New Edition 3CD Set!. Including their acapellas, instrumentals remixes, greatest hits and other good songs off the albums like Maryann, My Secret, Im Coming Home, Im Leavin U Again, Oh Yeah It Feels So Good, etc. Straight Jacket Funk Affair

New Edition should give it up. They could have rode into the sunset with N.E. Heartbreak and their solo debuts, but they've got to continue to punish us. | |

I actually laughed out loud when I read that "this is going to be the best ever" shit lol. I would be more interested in another Ralph or Jonnie solo project than an NE record. Those other cats are just dead weight. Let them do another whack BBD album and leave Ralph and Jonnie alone. Bringing Together Five Decades of R&B/Funk/Soul/Dance
