incredible or what!
those strings...JB's voice...

Wish MJ had kept on singing it on that birthday special that Prince played at.
would have sounded plush...

i adore this song... and i think it's a shame that james brown gets so much credit for his upbeat & funky jams and his ballads so often get overlooked and forgotten...

it's a man's man's man's world
maybe the last time
i guess i'll have to cry, cry, cry
try me
prisoner of love
lost someone
woman
bewildered
please, please, please
why do you do me (like you do me)?
how do you stop?
oh baby, don't you weep
if i ruled the world
i wanna be around
goodbye my love
don't cry, baby
down and out in new york city
fever
send her back to me
why did this happen to me?

and so forth and so on...

sometimes i think i love james brown's ballads and slow soul songs more than the funky jams... the man could friggin wail on this shit... he was a bad mutha... the man...

I have the above photograph on my wall, yet the poster cleverly edited out the "each telescope" (?) background, which probably isn't a bad thing. hehe

Man's World is great of course, no brainer.

I think it's because his ballads are reeeally easy to overlook in favor of his upbeat funky jams. boxed

He didn't persue legal action b/c he was actually being sued by his co-writer of the song (Newsome, I believe) at the time. You can't sue someone over copyright infringement on a particular song when you're being accused of the same thing on the same song.

But, yes, it's a brilliant song - as are 94.59% of James Brown's creations.

UptownDeb

I was listening to Hot 97FM once and a caller was breaking on Alicia Keys. He was saying that "Fallin'" wasn't nothing but, James Brown's "It's a Man's Man's Man's World." I hadn't thought about it before, but I can definitely see how someone could make that argument.

Actualy, Alicia is a thief. Check this out:

Imposible-Ain't No Way(Aretha Franklin)-the one that she produced 4 Christina

Rock Wit U-No Ordinary Love(Stevie Wonder-PT.2 where Minnie is singing)

The Life-The back-up music is a Crutis Mayfield's song(4get its title-the same song that Mary J sampled 4 her "I'm The Only Woman") and the "trying 2 get over part" which was taken from his song "Superfly".

And finaly Fallen.

Alicia is cool and I like her but if she kept going on with this ripping off shit then it will lose respect from ppl.
