New video Speech posted on his site;

I will always love this very positive group.

His music doesn't degrade us but uplift us.

Compared to Lil'Wayne and the senseless material

these 'so called' rappers are rapping about today.

I'll listen to Arrested Development any day.

Speech has his wife in his latest video. How

many rappers has their wife/girlfriend(s) in their

music video without dispaying them like whores?

Example: Ice T. and others.

I like to see artist have their spouse participate in

their projects and are treating each other with respect.

We live and learn, Speech

made some selfish moves, but we learn from our

mistakes. Look how many mistakes Prince has

made and WE are all still here..Begging for more

music,sightings and updates.

Don't hate. Appreciate.

I remember an interview Ice-T did a while ago (or was it one of those countdown shows?) and he was saying how he didn't like Arrested Development because they reminded him of tobacco fields and cotton picking or something along those lines. lol

Oh, so he wanted to talk down to them and try to make them appear less than, huh lol ? For that I have to say f*** Ice Tea, because not everybody loves concrete jungle life. And as we saw in the episode, while cotton picking had nothing to do with it, the rural aesthetic of Arrested Development was intentional. T needs to learn not every black person from the south who loves the south is picking their teeth with hay, or back-bent from picking crops. I'm not even from the south, but please, like his urban pimp strolls strewn with crackheads were so much better than being amongst southern wildflowers . He can seriously GTFOOHWTS:roll: Dumb ass doing all his press photos holding machine guns (to fight & kill who, mothaf***a? And for what?) with half naked chicks everywhere objectified as sex object,s and somehow his shit is supposed to be more evolved? Chile...he know he needed to have a seat with that on BS, for real bored2

Yeah I know I remember hearing him say that on some show because ever since then, every time I hear Arrested Development it reminds me of what he said. I just wish I could find it on YouTube as my proof, but I can't find it.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

He probably said it in a print interview. lol But I kinda didn't understand WHY Speech did that though. It wasn't like the South was that different especially if you go into Houston, New Orleans, Charlotte, Richmond, etc. I mean did he really think we were that stupid to not forget that the South did had homes out there? lol Hell STILL have it, not "had it". lol

Ice-T said it on one of those VH1 countdown shows. Something to the effect of "You wanna take me back to Tennesse??? Where they were whipping my @ss???" lol

I enjoyed this episode, mostly because of Dionne Farris' insights. It was a nice counter balance to Speech's recollections. She kept it real.

To me, "I Know" is the quintessential 90's pop song. Great jam! Had the cassette single when it first came out <<Showing my age>>. lol

I listened to their first album and their unplugged album (which is great!) for days, but never gave them a second thought after that. At least they can always say they were more than a one hit wonder... but not by much.

It's from Alphabet St. (just slowed down)

Kinda funny that AD addressed folks like Ice T making fun of their look on "People Everyday" years before he made those comments.

Seemed like an interesting episode. These guys blew up on their debut album

and really wasn't heard of on the second album. Yeah if Speech had that kind

of attitude towards his groupmates and particularly Dionne Farris he really is

full of himself. Nevertheless these guys were not deserving of an Unsung

episode since they came on the scene in 1992 and only lasted for 2 or 3

albums. Who's up next? PM Dawn or Wrecks N Effect lol

One of the best episodes to date....I think they are "Unsung" because the talent was there, but they didn't get to complete the journey at the time of their earlier success...

Now, you know that A Tribe Called Quest will probably get an episode...lol

Indeed he is, which is why it annoys me even more that Ice and others would try to paint these kids as backyard country bumpkins. I was grown and already married when they arrived on the scene, but I remember very clearly the impact they had on the college scene back then-- and though they used rural imagery as part of their "pride branding" as I like to call it, they were hardly the pickaninnies some of the hard core rap folks wanted to suggest they were. I guess folk couldn't attack their material as "trying to be white" or appeasing the "massa masses" (as it clearly wasn't), so they had to do the punk move and pick on the aesthetic...like I said before, as if the rap alternatives to what AD was visually displaying as black pride back then was sooooo much better. lol

Yea lol.

i don't get tv1, so i missed this. this thread, however, is making me wish i had it! lol

i remember at the time someone told me NOT to get their cd b/c "tennessee" wasn't the same song as you hear on the radio, so i didn't wind up getting it. about 7 years later, i was temping at a music company and got a free compilation of their greatest hits, which had the radio version of the song so i was happy. when i learned all the words to "tennessee", i noticed that they named checked dyersburg, tn, and the surrounding area which is where speech(?) "walked the ground my forefathers walked, climbed the trees my forefathers swung from", and that's where my grandparents and ancestors are from as well. that made me like the song more!

i thought they had a positive vibe going on. i could relate to the lyrics of 'people everyday'. but it sounds like speech could take his own advice from that song, and behave like an "african" instead of "n****". i mean c'mon - 90/10???? who the hell does that????
