Unsung: Arrested Development

Thought it was real fucked up to not give Dionne Farris her Grammy's when it was HER VOICE on the "Tennessee" song even though she wasn't with the band. Kind of looking at Speech real side eyed right now. hmmm

And dayum, Speech on one tour bus and the rest of the group on another? confused Dionne was fired just in time huh. Well she got her last laugh didn't she with her successful solo album...evillol clapping I remember she had a song on the Love Jones soundtrack too...it was called "Hopeless" I believe.

WTF is Speech talking about when Dionne went solo that he felt she wasn't giving recognition to Arrested Development. Huh??? Yeah he got a real big ass ego. You fucking fired her, why would she recognize you? That aside, that's her solo joint, she don't NEED to recognize you. OMG. Makes me kind of glad his shit flopped.

Eshe's hair is on point though. nod Dionne still looks great. It was really sweet what Eshe did for Dionne. touched

Seemed like an interesting episode. These guys blew up on their debut album

and really wasn't heard of on the second album. Yeah if Speech had that kind

of attitude towards his groupmates and particularly Dionne Farris he really is

full of himself. Nevertheless these guys were not deserving of an Unsung

episode since they came on the scene in 1992 and only lasted for 2 or 3

albums. Who's up next? PM Dawn or Wrecks N Effect lol

LOL Speech's got a Napoleon complex. That's pretty much all I took from it. No surprise how they imploded. I always was looking at their videos and remember thinking in the back of my head: "you know that front man is a handle, it'll be a surprise if they hold on for five years." Alas they didn't. lol

Exactly. I mean he wasn't concerned about her getting her Grammy's and RECOGNIZING that it was her voice included on the "Tennessee" song that won them their achievement, so why the fuck should she had recognized Arrested Development when she got her solo thing together? He's full of it.

Also, I didn't notice that Dionne only recorded that one solo album and then literally fell off the music scene after she had her child. I wish she would had recorded more. According to Wiki, she did record a 2nd album but that wasn't until 2006 or 2007.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

lol I know right. When they were like Speech was going off talking about how they could all go and he could do it all like Prince, I was like spit Really Speech? Really? I mean I could see if they had multiple platinum successful albums out the ass, but this fool was tripping after only ONE, count'em ONE ALBUM.

I was kind of wondering how they split all that money up too...guess we found out how. It was 90/10 between the two founding members while the others were basically treated like collateral. disbelief And Speech naively thought that this group would survive like that? ohgoon Don't know what the hell he was smoking.

I caught the episode the last half hour and just as I predicted the group split up over money. I thought it was surprising to find out that Speech and Headliner were under the name Arrested Development the rest were contract players. Their partnership was 90/10 percentage who the fuck will consent to that?

Sorry not feeling Speech I'm glad he fell off.

Love Dionne Farris I forgot about that pop hit she had ' I Know '. I still rock Hopeless on my Ipod.

I remember an interview Ice-T did a while ago (or was it one of those countdown shows?) and he was saying how he didn't like Arrested Development because they reminded him of tobacco fields and cotton picking or something along those lines. lol

That 90/10 split blew my mind. It reminds me of why Jummy Jam and Terry Lewis has survived all of these years, 50/50 no matter who does the work.

I went 2 a TV-One function last week........there are more Unsung episodes coming.

For me, sure that BS allocation is absurd in itself, BUT I was more appalled with how Speech said it so casually, like it was normal and nothing was wrong with it, as well as how dismissive he was to the fairness of it all as if Headliner wasn't supposed to had brought it up at all. rolleyes Who the hell was Speech to think he was hott shit that NO ONE was supposed to question the money? Like everyone was supposed to just suck it up, take it and just keep on performing and recording as normal. Naw man.

Eshe's comment about Speech has to be one of the all-time classic putdown of anyone with an outsize ego (Kanye anyone?). I was practically rolling on the floor in laughter about that one. Now that the show has done an ep about a near "one-hit" wonder from the 90's, does that mean we can look forward to a future ep on for example, Color Me Badd?

the only song I really like by them is "People Everyday".I bought their album strictly for that song, but the album contains a different version mad I was pissed. The version I wanted was the single version, which sounds totally different...it contains totally different music.

The second album was actually really good. I'm surprised that many people have never heard it. Not as catchy, but I think it actually hold up much better over time.
