The Cure ~ Hot! Hot! Hot! {Extended Mix} You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I've always liked this version more than the regular one. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I don't know...the guitar strumming in this sounds pretty Prince-like to me!

Man, this was the first The Cure song that made me stop what I was doing and take notice. I remember exactly where I was when I first heard it and wondered why the hell I did not own all their music. One of my favorite songs. The extended mix always makes me smile. If you will, so will I

LOTS of people like both the Cure and Prince, as evidenced right here on the org! There's been many threads and posts about the Cure. I especially remember someone suggesting that Prince should cover "Just Like Heaven," which got a lot of agreement. Yes, they are different, but as you say beatriceau, they are both "unique and quirky." And I just heard a live version of "Joy in Repetition" that sounded Cure-like to me. True story - I was reading the last chapters of Albert Camus' "The Stranger" when "Killing An Arab" came on, and I became a big fan (getting all their stuff) from then on.
