I'm an admitted die-hard Mariah fan, but I kinda hate this new song with all the rapping on it. How the heck are you going to be a featured guest on something that's 1) your own song, and 2) your LEAD single? confuse I'm going to wait for the resung remixes to see whether or not there's one that I'll be interested in buying.

I hope Mariah has a Vision for this album (excuse the pun). lol

I'm not even a die-hard fan like that but I've always appreciated her voice, vocal arrangements and songwriting. It's kind of sad when you're not comfortable enough to sing verses on your own song. Don't get me wrong, I love experimental stuff. I'm not beholden to one format but this a mistake. Maybe they anticipated the backlash and let it be known that there are going to be remixes with new vocals. Why not knock it out the park on your first attempt? Again, I think its a mistake....

We'll see if their target market bites on it or not. Rick Ross and his Maybach Music Group have been a winning combination for Urban radio this year. We'll see...

She just had a conference talking about why she made the song the way it is and apparently she's purposely trying not to cross over this time. She wants to revive R&B and open doors for new R&B artists so they won't be so pressured to "cross over" all the time. But I feel the same way as you in the bolded part of your statement. She could have accomplished all of that with a better written version of this song.

Even if it is a mistake, I at least applaud her for trying something new instead of sticking to the RedOne/David Guetta Automatic Number One Hit formula.

But im not hearing anything new from her? shes been doing this typical lazy beat with flava of the month rappers added in or in this case she's added in as the hook. What new RB artists is she gonna open doors with on this new song? i mean its a nice TALK Mariah, but if u aint walking the talk, whats the point, artists love these statements but this is song is typical crossover, cause she is diving into the rap world again.

This aint just my avatar talking, but for Mariah not to remake "The Glamorous Life", admittedly one of her favorite singles, continues to be a damn shame.

lol Is she for real? How is making a rapper(s) the focal point on your song reviving R&B??? Rap is Hip-Hop, not R&B. R&B is about SANGIN'! Hip-Hop & R&B are two totally separate genres. And she said she's not trying to cross over this time? Hip-Hop continues to be a dominant force on the Pop charts so how is she figuring this song will not cross over to the Pop charts? Can someone provide a link to this conference? I want to see if she seemed impaired at the conference because what she's saying simply doesn't make sense.confuse

The only hope I have for this upcoming album is she claims she's working with Walter Afanasieff. Otherwise, if it's just going to be a rehash of the last two albums, this will be the very first Mimi album that I'm going to skip.

I agree with you. I'm just repeating what she said. I'm not feelin this track either, but like I said in my first post, I'm going to wait and see what she does with her re-sung remixes. She also said that she wants to do a lot of collabs on this album and that is scaring me because if she sounds like a featured guest on one of her OWN songs, then who's to say that won't happen on all of her other collabs too. I might have to eat my words when the album actually comes out...but after hearing this track, I'm afraid that this album might just be Emancipation of Mimi 3.0: Collab Edition.

well aint this a turd on toast. neutral

is she for real with this bullshit? the fact that she's back to doing resung dance remixes says she listens to the fans. HOWEVAH! the fact that she's back with a lame midtempo r&b track, not just featuring rappers, but a track where the rappers are actually featuring HER?! oh no no no. FAIL.

now I see why she announced those resung dance mixes before even premiering the single lol

but that said, I think this is pretty hot. I understand fans particularly being let down with her sounding featured on her own lead single but I love it and absolutely love all the layering work that goes on in it.

but I have a feeling this will end up being dismissed as a buzz single with the follow up being labled the official one like they did It's Like That/We Belong Together.

Could someone please lock Mariah Carey in a recording studio with a couple of *REAL PRODUCERS/MUSICIANS* and no rappers? Don't let her out until she has an entire album recorded!

lol seriously, her voice is too good for the lame, generic R&B/hip hop crap that she seems to favor.

I wouldn't pay 2 cents for the download. confused

She squaders her time and talent trying to capture a younger, hipper slice of the market, which often alienates her core fan base. I encourage her to put out a rap album and get it out of her system.

nod I don't know how her "Lambs" are responding to it so far but if it bombs, I can easily see them quickly dimissing this attempt as a buzz single and declare another song as the real 1st single.

That's only going to get worse as she continues to get older. That gap will spread wider and wider. If she's not careful, she'll mess around and lose everybody in the process. Hopefully she has something else up her gaudy little sleeve. We'll see...

I can't think of a single song in history that was improved upon by adding rappers. I enjoy singing. I don't want to sit around and listen to people talk over a beat.

These guys better be careful too. Nearly every rapper Mariah has ever worked with now works at Burger King.

Slight improvement, but it should be titled the Root Canal Mix because I'd rather be sitting in the dentist's chair than hear her wail over a pop techno production.

Am I missing something? What's Vintage or Throwback about this remix? I was expecting some kind of 70's or 80's old school Soul mix but this is just a typical club remix. shrug Okay, I give up on the first single. Looking forward to a second single, and I mean QUICK!

Stinging critique by the Examiner with whom I agree:

Mariah has unleashed one of the most disappointing tracks of her career, a dated rent-a-rapper song called "Triumphant."

The song really belongs to rappers Rick Ross and Meek Mill. Mariah is really a guest star on this song and for someone who is known to have one of the most solid voices ever, she sounds very auto-tuned.

Well they are 100% correct, for a song called "Triumphant" is a total opposite of that, its just a terrible song straight up

Mariah will release another version of "Triumphant" with some new vocals and especially another beat.

Australian radio has already confirmed that they will be playing this version of the single.
