No matter what version she releases, the song is an exhausting bore.

This one is the most tolerable. But she loses me at the chorus. It just sounds clumsy or something. It doesn't flow right.

She still gets the Try-hard Queen of All Time award for the rap version tho. And I hope to one day deliver it to her personally.

Stinging critique by the Examiner with whom I agree:

Mariah has unleashed one of the most disappointing tracks of her career, a dated rent-a-rapper song called "Triumphant."

The song really belongs to rappers Rick Ross and Meek Mill. Mariah is really a guest star on this song and for someone who is known to have one of the most solid voices ever, she sounds very auto-tuned.

''Triumphant'' generated tepid first-week sales, landing on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Charts at # 97. Inviting 2 rappers to guest verse on her song has proved disastrous.

I'm sure her label exec's are trying figure out which direction to go now considering the quick rejection and backlash from Triumphant. They'll probably lie and say it was supposed to be a buzz single anyway and release something else easier to digest from her. Good luck!

I hope so. Isn't she still with Def Jam? Is L.A. Reid still at the helm? I'm wondering why he allowed this to be the first single release? It's almost as if he wants her to fail. If they were smart, the first single would have been something she is known for - a big, belting ballad minus rappers and hip-hop computer drum beats. That is what is going to get people interested again. Not some dumb piece of crap song that sounds like everyone else on the radio.

Let's get back to basics, Mimi! If she wants to bring R&B back and make it easier for other R&B singers, then she needs to go back and listen to her "Emotions" album so she can remind herself of how a real R&B singer is supposed to deliver a song. That music is supposed to come from the heart, the soul. Thanks to hip-hop and that euro-pop rubbish, people have forgotten what R&B is really all about.

the best song I've heard from Mariah in recent years is 2005's "Fly Like A Bird" music that song is perfection: it's soulful, warm and meaningful... and with no rappers pissing all over it!

Absolutely. And that's why that song topped the year end R&B Adult Contemporary chart in 2006. There was zero crossover success with the song but adult R&B radio loved it! No rappers, no hip-hop beats. So, I'm not understanding why she feels she needs rappers to be R&B????? hmmm

Because she's not confident that she can sell without them. Otherwise, she'd be true to her craft and put out some quality music that would highlight her vocal talent.

I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

I'm not 100% sure but I think she went to Sony. This new album should be the first release under her new contract.

She could easily go the Adele route and do personal and introspective songs with pared down arrangements. Her voice sounds really nice with just a guitar or piano. I loved Help Me Make It Through The Night and Right To Dream. Hell, take it back to Vanishing. The urban thing was cute in 1997 but now she looks damn silly.

Memoirs had some nice cuts, and was rapper-free right? Not sure why more fans don't praise it??

I remember a few years ago she was on Larry King and said that people ask her

why don't she just belt out and she said she doesn't always want to belt out and

it's boring as hell. Well she's probably going to get the message that people are

tired of seeing a nearly 50 year old r&b singer go running to the latest fad rapper

to make a record and market it to the 106&Park crowd. People are just gonna stop

caring after awhile.

Mostly because most of the production on the album was done by The Dream and after a while it sound like the same record one after the other...some songs even had same snares and fingersnaps and handclaps..not enough variety. The songwriting I feel was good though...she should have taken some of the songs though to real musicians.
