Lionel Ritchie Opening for Jimmy Buffett This Weekend

For all of the Jimmy Buffett fans in Michigan, yes, I said it right, Lionel Ritchie is his opening act for the big concert this weekend.

Back in the 70s and 80s, if anyone would have even suggested Lionel Ritchie would ever open for Jimmy Buffett, they would have been the laughing-stock. I guess you should never say never. Something tells me Lionel will not be doing a Commodores medley on Saturday. lol Can you imagine him singing "Sexy Dancer" in front of that crowd? Some of those little old ladies would have to be carried up out of there. falloff

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I'm a fan of Jimmy Buffett and Lionel Richie.. I would go to this show.

lol My cycling instructor is a HUGE Jimmy Buffet fan. She was playing one of his CDs shortly before our class started. I asked her surely she wasn't going to play that while we were cycling? It would chase everyone out of the class. She said no, she would take it off and put on the cycling music once the class began. About 45 minutes into the class, she takes the cycling music off and puts on Jimmy Buffett for the last 15 minutes! It was so funny because everyone was cracking up. It was like having a 15 minute cooldown. biggrin

Mr. Buffet parks several armored trucks outside of his shows to carry the bank of dough he makes, wise move on Mr. Richie's part.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that. I think this will help Lionel's career/album sales. Jimmy Buffett is one of the biggest tours every year, and has been for decades. And if Lionel plays stuff like "Stuck On You" and "Easy", Buffett fans will love it.

I'm certainly not gonna hate on Ritchie for this-he's being smart. This year, by reaching out to a more country audience, he has expanded his fanbase, and his album is one of the top sellers of 2012.
