"(we are here) to geek U up" was the jam on "Slingshot" along with "In it for the goodies"

"Slingshot" was 1983.

Vainandy,I am shocked lol you're usually so good with remembering dates!

Slingshot is the sixth album by American bass guitarist Michael Henderson. Released in 1981 on Buddah Records.

I could have sworn it was 1983. But then again, the only song I remember from that album that got any airplay was the slow song with Phyllis Hyman "Can't We Fall In Love Again" that does sound more like 1981 rather than something in 1983.

That also would explain why "Fickle" wasn't on that album which I definitely remember being from 1983. I remember reading the tracklist of the "Slingshot" album in recent years and saying "Where's Fickle?". lol

If this was really the album cover i'm surprised the label even let him get away

with that in 1980. Was there any backlash?

This was the album cover for Slingshot, his 1981 album (a year after "Wide Receiver").

but yeah,it's surprising that he got away with that.I don't remember any backlash.

There was no backlash over the album cover because nobody bought it. I hadn't even heard of the album until it was recently reissued on CD by FTG.

The album performed fairly well in 1980.

It peaked at # 6 and # 35 on the Soul and Pop Charts, respectively.

It's a pretty good album. But, according to Wikiepedia, it topped out at #14 R&B and #86 Pop.

Yeah, i don't know about Kit,but that album got much play. Especially, "we are here to geek you up". but, maybe it did better in certain parts of the country. but, it was getting rocked hard, where i'm from. and the album cover didn't hurt(my mom and her friends, enjoyed it.....very.....much,and so did i, when i came out lol !!!).
