Feeling that the Jackson's "Unity Tour" is going to get CANCELED! If it hasn't been clear towards anyone that since Michael's death, everything for the Jacksons has been going down hill. Several tributes were cancelled, the tribute in Cardiff was an EPIC fail, but some fans got a ray of light when the Jackson Brothers announced a "Unity Tour". But it seems that that too may add to the pile of mess we call the Jacksons today. Already, the brothers have cancelled their first few shows to apparently "finish" their album, but many people have the gist that it's becuase of unorginization. Honestly, and I don't mean to offend anyone, but, for the most part, after MJ died, the jacksons have been feeding on his corpse to make a few extra bucks. The only ones who havent are Janet, katherine and the kids. You may think otherwise, but this is ultimitely my opinion. I don't hate any of the Jackson brothers, but theyre trying to feed off of MJs fame now that he can't do anything about it. How do you feel?

Funny that you should bring this up. I've been thinking about trying to purchase a ticket as they come to my neck of the woods 6/23. But, I've been hesitant because the last time ( I think 2 or 3 years ago in October) I bought a ticket and they cancelled. I started getting happy when I heard that ticket sales were decent, but still don't have a lot of confidence.

Since his death? Things have been going downhill for them since Michael went solo back in 1979! Do you really think anybody really gave two shits about Tito and Jermaine between 1979 and 2009?

Me, I like Jermaine and have all of his albums. Tito has not released anything, he just performs his blues show. the jackson brothers have to relie on micheal for the simple fact that he is in charge of collecting royalties from their catalog. he has done a poor job of managing their catolog so the king of pop has to dip in his pockets to take care of his brothers until certain royalties come in.

according to Ticketmaster, the brothers only have 13 dates that are available for tickets which means 14 dates have been canceled http://www.ticketmaster.c...earch.y=15
the brothers clearly needs a better management team and I think they've promoted themselves to the wrong audience which were the tabloid/mainstream demographic. They've should of been heavily marketed themselves on R&B radio stations, Ebony & Jet magazines, BET and Centric. they're audience are the nostaligia 60's & 70's R&B market. It's sad b/c the commodores, stephanies mills, el debarge, zapp band are successful at selling out shows and these guys can't and they're more famous hell even lil kim is selling out shows [Edited 6/6/12 18:23pm]

In an explosive interview with Euroweb Phoenix, the Jackson family stalwart , a long time friend and former spokesperson for the Jackson Family, has also managed one of the famous Jackson brothers, Tito Jackson tells fans to get refunds for tickets they may have purchased for the Unity tour because its not going to happen . WOW... just... WOW.
Well the Jacksons are DONE.

The Jacksons are now seniors in their late 50’s and early 60’s getting ready for their AARP membership card. If anyone would have gotten ill it would have been one of the brothers up there on the stage going into cardiac arrest What does their age have to do with it? B.B. King is 86 and still performing. Betty White is 90 and is pretty active. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

lol Tito's the only Jackson that can hang onstage. By the way I just love how former "family friends" are going elsewhere saying "man 'Unity'?! Psssht!" This reminds me of certain chapters from La Toya's and Margaret Maldonado's books... what a mess. And June 20th's just around the corner.

i've never heard of phoenix, and i don't know if that article is legit, but i wouldn't be surprised if the story was true. this tour was rife with problems.
one, while their ages have nothing to do with their abilities per se, they do when the biggest hits for these men came out when they were boys and younger men. i don't think many people want to hear grown men singing 'abc' or 'mama's pearl'. while they could sing their lessen known materials from 2300 jackson st, for example, but i'm not sure the audience would be into it. jermaine has had hits, but if he hasn't been able to mount a tour on the strength of his own material before, why would he be able to now?
two, while i did hear one commercial this morning on hot 92.3 (with rick dees in the morning here in l.a.), i think happy is right: the bros believe that mj's crossover success translates to them as well. it doesn't. they're not going to sing mj's songs (are they?), so their best best would have been to focus on the rnb audience. after they kind of cooled off by the mid-70s with the mainstream audience, many in the black community continued to follow them and probably still know the words to their lesser known jams (compared to the well-known mainstream songs) like 'i am love', 'too late to change the time', 'get it together', 'all i do is think of you', etc.
three, mj isn't there.

This is what i've been saying.
This family has done the most horrid job mobilizing their fanbase.
Everytime you look up it's the tabloid/mainstream media they're kissing up to.
Like watch when the anniversary of MJ's passing comes up. It'll be People Magazine, CNN and The View family members will speak to.

This is why I can't fuck with the Jacksons because they're doing it ALL WRONG... been in the business 45 years and still don't know SHIT!
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I was exactly going to buy a ticket Im so glad I didnt... This is really unprofessional. They should know better than to cancel dates because of a dumb excuse as that.

I'll say this for BB...he never stopped recording and/or touring. His fanbase is solid and he's very well liked, respected, amd appreciated. It's a shame that the various Jackson bros stopped working in the mid-late 80s, even if they didn't have MJ like success, because now in their old age they'd have something to eat off of. They don't.

after 'Off The Wall',Michael didn't need his brothers anymore. From that point on,the world was focused on him,not his brothers. Some fans will disagree but I think Destiny should have been Michael's final album with his brothers.

The Jacksons whittle down "Unity Tour" citing scheduling issuesThe Jacksons have cancelled a handful of impending summer shows, citing scheduling conflicts for the lighter "Unity Tour" itinerary. The iconic family band, comprised of Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Tito Jackson, will now kick off the North American excursion with a June 20 performance in Rama, Ontario. The first two concerts -- June 18 in Louisville, KY, and June 19 in Cincinnati, OH -- have been cancelled, along with shows in Cleveland, OH (6/26); Raleigh, NC (7/6) and Nashville, TN (7/10). Those who purchased tickets online or by phone will automatically be canceled and refunded, according to Ticketmaster and Live Nation. Ticketholders who purchased tickets in person will need to return to the point of purchase for a refund. Tickets for the 22 remaining performances are available now.

Wow,I guess the ticket sales must be really low I wouldn't be surprised if they cancel the entire tour altogether.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
and why are they so eager to do a new record? No one's gonna buy it,anyway

didn't janet said back in 2008 whenever they decided to do a reunion tour that she was going to open up for them?

did she really say that?

Maybe they should've been on an old school line up? I've even seen one hit wonders on the bill for those. Surely they could've done something like that? They put a lot of the old groups together for these summer festivals. It would've been best if they were one of many, instead of trying to do this on their own.
What happened to the music they were doing on their reality show? They had problems agreeing on the music back then.

so which is it? a few days ago, it was "we're cancelling b/c we're still working on our album, and we want to put it out first before we go on tour". now it's "we're rescheduling b/c of scheduling conflicts". (moreover, jackie says in the article that they're going to work on the album *after* the tour.)
oh brother! i'm with soul alive; there will be more cancellations. have they done any t.v. promotion that would want people want to go out to see the show? isn't that what usually happens? you go on t.v. to perform and leno/letterman/fallon says something like 'our next guests will opening their tour on june 20 in canada, blah, blah, blah' and that's how people know about your tour? have they forgotten that?
if (when) this doesn't come off, i never, ever, ever want to see jermaine's face on t.v. talking about touring ever again. not ever.

they're too proud for that. they're the jackson family 'dynasty', you know. i didn't see the show, but from what posters stated at the time, they were acting like petty little divas, so i doubt things have changed. they won't be putting out any new music.
