Wasn't she raised Pentecostal? I think some members of churches in the Pentecostal based Christian sect usually get filled with the "Holy Spirit". Then again, I think Baptists also "get it" but Pentecostals literally have to get that thing off them if you believe stories.

Getting 'slain in the spirit', speaking in tongues, some people claim it, but I don't, yet I went to an Pentecostal church for six years.

I am Christian and very familiar with the Holy Spirit; it just seems that in Fantasia's case every time she sings a Gospel song she appears getting slain in the Holy Spirit...every time: but here's the thing, most people intimately familiar with that experience and biblically literate enough about that concept will tell you that you cannot even remotely feel the presence of the Holy Spirit unless you are doing your very best to live your life in obedience to and in accordance with God, and you may not feel it every time you get up to sing (depending on how deeply you've been in intimate relationship with God before you got up to sing). Quite many a time people are actually doing all that screaming and crying because it's simply an emotional release from feeling convicted, and that's what they're trying to get off of them, not the Holy Spirit itself. I hate to say it but many times when I see Fanny falling out I'm not seeing the Holy Spirit vs. someone who appears upset and in pain. In scripture there is such a concept called "The Fruits of the Holy Spirit" that are evidenced in one's life when they dwell in Christ and the Holy Spirit dwells within them; those 9 visible "fruit", rarther attributes in a Christian's life are:

love

joy

peace

forebearance (patience)

kindness

goodness

faithfulness

gentleness

self-control

Outside of kindness and gentleness, poor Fanny looks like she's missing a few things (although she seems so sweet, how can she not be striving for goodness and faithfulness?), but when she goes into her fits, I personally don't see someone who's connecting to something Divine vs. witnessing something sadder and from a different place, but hey- that's just me. shrug

Yes, I think this is the case a lot of the time. If you're on the edge, little things can push you over, emotionally. Her reactions are not "The Extacy of St. Teresa" reactions, she is breaking down.

I just feel bad for her daughter in all of this. She's almost 11 and is old enough to see and hear what her mother is doing/going through, as well as what the press and people are saying about her. That has to be tough.

.

I was thinking the same thing.Even though I am a fan of hers(She "sangs" some Purple Rain) She is not a good role model for her daughter at all. Tasha's mother had her young also. Its just going to unfortunately repeat the cycle with her daughter. She should have waited to do her life story. Because she has lived way more good footage since...

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Thats not true necessarily. Anybody can catch the holy spirit. While I do agree sometimes those outburts are not sincere, there are drug addicts, prostitutes, etc that do go to church and if they are trying to change their life around do catch the holy spirit. That in itself is between the person and God.

I do too, destined to be a sharecropper at any cost. All the breakthroughs handed to her and she still is stuck on stupid. What a gift and a blessing she could have been. Well at least for now her only vice is men and asprin.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last....
