Sly & The Family Stone - Dance To The Medley
Revolutionary one here! You can here some of the overdubbing methods Sly put to use on Riot on this one as well. [Edited 7/11/12 6:44am] Check me out and add me on:

Indeed.
Whoever said that "the studio" was his most effective instrument, didn't lie.
Ya know, given that I revere Riot, Stand and Fresh so much. I sometimes forget the lil' subtle surprises that filled that album, Life and Small Talk.
I imagine that he found delight in the mixing process, it sure sounds like it from the finished results. | |

Agreed. I went back into this album earlier today and it really clicked with me that the studio techniques that Sly was experimenting with were revolutionary for its time. I can understand why the cats at Motown and the entire industry had to take a step back and really get into what he was doing because it wasn't easy to categorize it. By the time Riot came out, Sly really had to flip it all again. Just a game changer and "Dance To The Medley" is one of his genius moments. Check me out and add me on:
