How you say ECHO?

Her version of The Isley's "For The Love Of You" isn't better than the original.

I'm not such a good judge of all things, any things, Whitney; give me live Whitney:-D over some crap some producer is trying to put on her. Even that song about Suzy when done live is better than half the stuff they overproduce on her. What a great talent.

Not even close to the beauty of Whitney's masterpiece. I do agree what others are saying about For The Love Of You

It's a simple heartfelt song with no need for belting and vocal gymnastics

Whitney totally ruined it by doing just that

I find this a 1000 times more emotive than whitney's annoying oversinging

I agree 100%, Whitney ruined the sentiment of the song. It's a break-up song, and the last thing I wanted when somebody is breaking up with me, is to do, vocal runs. Doing so, would make me say, "To hell with you".

I'm fond of these Dylan covers.....

I prefer all of the R&B treatments of Dylan's covers over the original.

Actually, I don't think I ever sat through a Dylan's original. That man's voice makes me reach for the blood pressure pills.

And it ain't like I haven't tried lol

Give me Whitney's version of "I Will Always Love You" any day and twice on Sunday. The sentiment isn't ruined at all. Dolly's original is framed as being sung to the person whereas Whitney's version seems to be sung to herself about the person. I think it's heartfelt, emotional, and totally phenomenal.

I'm gonna have to disagree with "Sweet Dreams," "More Love," and "Reflections," but "Greatest Love of All" and "Who's Loving You" definitely make my short list.

Another one:

Definetly. Marilyn's entire career is a pile of shit in my opinion. He ruined the classic

Lol.. Poor fella; his pipes are pretty well knackered now - and quite why anyone would shell out a small fortune to hear him rasp his way through a set at one of these cavernous enormodomes he plays at, I'll never know. I do like his voice as it was during his earlier years, though - up to the 90s or thereabouts. For me, it's expressive and it works for his material. Hell, even the ungodly quack that he squeezes out these days holds a certain fascination, especially if the lyric has a worn and world-beaten slant to it. I can totally see how it's like fingernails on a blackboard to other people's ears, though! lol

I like this collection of R&B covers of his songs. Not everything's great, but Howard Tate, Marion Williams, Esther Phillips and a clutch of others turn in some belters. nod

I love this version too and I'm also a big fan of Rufus Wainwrights version

I always loved how haunting Jeff made it sound though.
