Great artist, great set. "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I'm a big fan of Laura Nyro. It's great to see her getting acknowledged, including the later work!

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

her album with Labelle has always been my favorite, next to Eli. The harmonization of that album is just spectacular. Change it one more time..

A couple of titles that were from her studio album Walk The Dog & Light the Light. [Edited 6/13/12 13:16pm] "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

From her final studio album Angel In The Dark. "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I loved Angel In The Dark, too!
I've seen some of her early appearances--I wish I could find more of her later performance footage....

Got her Greatest Hits recently and didn't know she was the original singer of It Gonna Take A Miracle. I became aware of her because Sara Bareilles paid tribute to her recently. I only knew 2 songs on there and miracle was one. I forget the other. Nice voice though. Just Music-No Categories-Enjoy It!

Wedding Bell Blues Is the other one I knew, they played on the oldies station. I'd like to see a docu/movie about her. Just Music-No Categories-Enjoy It!

She's not. It was The Royalettes. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
