The long awaited return of Maxwell is upon us.

The voice behind songs like "Pretty Wings," "Bad Habits," and "Ascension" will be releasing new music in days.

Maxwell made the announcement on Twitter this week confirming the first song fans will hear is titled "Of All Kind."

"This summer you will have songs from #Summers. Coming soon, the new song "Of All Kind" from #Summers," Maxwell said Wednesday. He is "excited" about the new music and follow up to his Grammy winning BlackSummers'Night album.

"Very excited to share new music in the coming days. Hope you like it," he added.

The question is: Will the song be followed by a new album in 2012? It's been 3 years since he dropped BLACKsummers'night. There have been false starts and now he goes at a snail's pace.

Angelic.

I'm a huge fan of his first three albums as well as "Unplugged," but when I heard "Blacksummersnight," I was so disappointed. I prefer his earlier, more groove-laden stuff. B.S.N. did nothing for me. His entire "sound/vibe" changed with that one. Oh well...perhaps he'll return to form and shock every1 next time out.

Maxwell is not Prince. He can't just go in the studio & pop out constant "MasterPieces". But maybe this follow up will bring him back to form. Last time he dried out. R Kelly wrote a hit for him "Fortunate" & brought him back. Maybe he should hire him back...

"pretty wings" was one of the most beautiful songs of the last decade. he doesn't need

r kelly to write him a hit.

what he needs to do is deliver when he promises something. all this talk of 3 albums,

and in the end it's taking him 8 years to release all three (if he even makes it).

BLACK was a bit too soft and meandering. but it's still a well crafted album that he can

be proud of.

he just should have kept the train moving and released SUMMER 8 months later at the

latest.

made it sound like he had all 3 albums ready to be released and then it turned out he

still had to write and record the second and third part.

this way the whole trilogy makes no sense. it feels more like a gimmick now than some

real conceptual piece of art that interlocks.

still, always excited to hear new maxwell music. as i said "pretty wings" is just one of

the best songs ever. when i first heard that one before the release of BLACK, i just had

one listen and went "ok, all is forgiven, never mind the wait, this is amazing".

I agree "Pretty Wings is a classic....Maxwell is not an independent artist. He can't make promises he can't keep. That is the record label's decision on what album is coming out & when.......I'm glad i'm not a die hard fan of his. I would be pissed. At least Prince has released an album a year up until 2005. And several after that. Did his new tour shows sell out yet?????
