It sounds like there will be quite a few tributes. Hopefully, at least. There will be a tribute on this Sunday's Billboard Music Awards along with Whitney. Donna is getting so much love online and offline. Just google her. Too bad this happens after death, but I do appreciate seeing and hearing the love and respect for her explode. And, as some may have expected, her singles and albums are charting on Itunes.

Two days later and its still a weird thought . Donna Summer was always larger than life. I didn't grow up in the 70s but I was forever grateful to find her along the way. Definitely was one of my favorite Divas and I thought she was just too cool. She was suggestive but not trashy, strong but girlish, a diva(and a rockstar as George Clinton once said) but also down to earth & nice, she was disco but possessed a timeless voice of life, she was on time but ahead of her time. I wholeheartedly agree with Elton John's comments...I was always like when are they gonna acknowledge this woman ?! But just like those times I questioned it, reading the new HOF response...once again just reminds of the ways of the world. However as a poster said she's already inducted to the hearts of many. Her name is like synonymous with joy, freedom and fun. You cant change that and its a great legacy to leave behind!

I just found this site by scrolling through the countless Donna Summer articles posted and must say as one of her hard core fans, it is touching to see the love she get's here. and all over the world.

I think most fans were afraid that Donna would be remember as that one time disco queen who scored some classic hits, but never would get the respect she truly deserved as a singer and as a songwriter.

I am so happy that our worries were nothing but that and that the amazing response from critics and press and other artists really showed that people did know she was more then just a disco singer.

The love is coming from all corners and especially the dance scene with people like Goldfrapp, La Roux, scissor sisters, moby and many dj's being totally shocked and saddened by the news.

the tributes on sites of Cher, Beyonce, Gloria, Bette and especially Nile Rodgers are heart warming

He really was a huge fan and wanted to work with her so badly.

Donna Summer's Album Sales Surge, Despite Lack of Availability

Despite how nearly half of the late Donna Summer's studio albums are off the market, the diva's catalog is due to make waves on the Billboard charts next week. Sources say her seven currently available greatest hits albums, along with a remix collection, could collectively sell between 20,000 to 40,000 copies by week's end on Sunday, May 20. (Up from less than 1,000 last week.) The biggest seller of the bunch might be "The Journey: The Very Best of Donna Summer," which was released in 2003. Also performing well is her first best-of, 1979's "On the Radio - Greatest Hits Volumes I & II."

However, there are a number of albums that are certain not to appear on any of our charts next week: Her five releases with Geffen Records and two for Atlantic Records in the 1980s and 1990s. Why? All seven of those titles are out of print -- both physically and digitally -- and are owned by Summer's estate. They include Geffen's "The Wanderer" (1980), "Donna Summer" (1982), "Cats Without Claws" (1984), "All Systems Go" (1987) and "I'm a Rainbow" (a shelved album from the early 1980s that was unreleased until 1996). For Atlantic, she released "Another Place and Time" in 1989 (which includes the top 10 Billboard Hot 100 single "This Time I Know It's For Real") and "Mistaken Identity" in 1991. Her Geffen albums have been unavailable since 2003, while Atlantic's "Mistaken Identity" and "Another Place and Time" left the marketplace in 1996 and 2009, respectively. Donna Summer: Her Life and Career in Photos Summer recorded for many labels in her career, aside from Geffen and Atlantic.

The bulk of her material was released through Casablanca Records from her first U.S. album in 1975 ("Love to Love You Baby") through the hits set "Walk Away" in 1980. While most of her Casablanca sets are available via digital services, not all are still available as physical albums. After departing Casablanca, she released two Geffen albums in 1980 and 1982, and then issued "She Works Hard for the Money" for Mercury Records in 1983. While that album can be found digitally on iTunes and in other e-tailers, it's been out of print as a CD since 2003. After parting ways with Atlantic in the early '90s, she moved on to Epic Records for 1999's concert set "Live & More Encore." Again, like much of her catalog, it is out of print on CD, but available digitally. Her final studio album released in her lifetime was 2008's "Crayons," issued through Sony Music's Burgundy Records. It debuted and peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard 200 and is still currently on the market -- both physically and digitally.

It's sad and unfortunate that things have to go like this... But maybe now some of Donna's late '70s (Live and More/Bad Girls era) and very early '80s (assuming their is some from 'The Wanderer' era) live concert footage will get a release. Until we perfect time travel this is the best I can hope for.

I prefere the released only because the demo has different lyrics that I don't think work as well.

This gorgeously arranged, country-flavored track from Bad Girls is among my favorite songs by Donna. I think her balladering is oft overlooked, and never got the same attention as the dance songs.

According to one report I read, those recordings are owned by her estate. I hope the executor(s) are making plans to remaster and reissue her entire back catalog. That would be fantastic news!

In 1994,most of her Geffen albums ('The Wanderer' (1980),'Donna Summer' (1982) and 'Cats Without Claws' (1984) were reissued on CD,then they went out of print a few years later.I'm so glad that I bought them when I saw 'em.They're hard to find,these days.

I still can't figure out why 'Live And More' hasn't been remastered by now.The CD that I have is from the late 80s and because of time limitations,it doesn't even include the "MacArthur Park Suite" That's unforgivable.

Art has always been appreciated more once the artist has died. Van Gogh only sold 1 painting in his entire lifetime.

As everytime she did a cover, she just made it her own and took it higher

People always say folks aren't appreciated just as much. When if fact, those who've been her fan base have always been there. Just because the media and record companies have moved on to the next flavor of the month or decade. Do people take others for granted sure. When someone as relatively young as Ms. Summer's pasess... you think there's still time for whatever.
