I just realized Demi Lovato is only 19. There is little doubt Cowell wants to capture a younger demographic that would otherwise be unobtainable, but...

It's weird to me that people seem surprised; Britney's always had a bionic wonder-body lol.

I forget she has a banging body... hell sometimes I see it in gifs and drool all over myself... drool

How do you even forget that? Whenever I see her mentioned I immediately think about how she's 'built', as my dad would probably put it LOL.

For Britney, this is the smartest career move she ever made. But I agree with Aretha's recent comments.....why are they so reluctant to hire *REAL ICONIC SINGERS* for these jobs? confuse You know, folks like Donna Summer,Gladys Knight and the Queen of Soul herself?!

BRITNEY SPEARS
'X Factor' Announcement
Was a Bloody Nail-biter

0515_britney_spears_nails
No one was more nervous to see and hear reassembled pop princess Britney Spears at her big $15 million "X Factor" announcement yesterday than Britney herself ... at least judging from her chewed up and bloody fingernails.

Despite the unwavering support from her new boss Simon Cowell, Britney seems to be taking out her pre-show anxiety on her cuticles ... a problem she's been dealing with for years.

In fact, Britney made a New Year's resolution to drop the habit in 2008, saying ... "Next year, I have to learn to stop biting my nails! I would like to stop worrying so much, because I worry all the time."

Donna was such a great guest judge on Idol season 3, I wish it was her instead of demi.

Aretha and Patti would be cutting daggers all throughout the talent contest. lol Donna and Gladys would've been much nicer.

nod I thought Chaka had a chance. Silly me. I see what they're going for on these shows. J Lo, Paula Abdul, these two, Nicole.....hard to take it seriously. They've picked some of the worst singers in pop music history to judge. Wow.

Actually Demi can sing, she ain't no Aretha and I know that's where the .org holds the bar on females, but Demi is the only singer really on the show including the wack contestants.

This show is desparate for ratings hence the hiring of Britney Spears. Yes Britney is going to be a ratings draw but I think after a couple of weeks people will tune out. She 'll be the nice judge while Simon be the mean one of course.

As 'Soul Alive' commented why not bring iconic singers on the show? because the show is trying to lure that 18 to 34 demographic. The younger generation may know who Aretha Franklin but I doubt they have been introduce to Donna Summers or Smokey Robinson's music catalog. I do wish Janet took the offer but I think there's bad blood still between her and LA Reid.

and ANY "serious" artist (unless Steven Tyler, who has lost it) know that X Factor is NOT the way to discover new good artists, more like faceless/competent singers

Janet was also too smart to accept the offer, feud with Reid or not

Chaka would go through wild ecstatics if Cowell offered a $15M paycheck (the alleged value of Britney's deal). I don't think she'd had any qualms about being a judge if he'd approached her first.

Uhhh, actually Chaka's name was mentioned on the gossip rounds not too long ago. That's why I brought her name up, (didn't pull it outta thin air). According to TMZ, "sources" said she would've been interested, and told her people to reach out to X Factor. It's TMZ, but still shrug
