I'd love to play along right now but le iPhone screen has its limits. I don't remember who directed me to this site but it's pretty cool- Whosampled.com. I love looking through it.

Jeff Lorber Fusion & Lil Kim...

Music for adventurous listeners

peace Tribal Records

This is my favorite Lil Kim song, and it's a lot because of Jeff Lorber and I didn't know that! Lol. Thanks, tA.

Jeff wasn't aware of it as well until he heard it on his car radio while driving somewhere, stopped the car and called to make arrangements for the royalties.

Interesting cool thanks. It sounds like some re-recorded parts (the guitar and vocals) are inspired by the original.

Where'd you hear that story? He's credited on the Crush On You single and the Hardcore album.

He tells about it on stage before he and the band starting the jam.

But you're right. I interpreted his side of the story incorrectly with the royalties, my bad. doh!

He just wasn't aware that "Rain Dance" had been sampled but was cool about it because a new generation would hear this jam again. cool

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

The sampling potpourri that makes up "Jenny From the Block"

The Beatnuts sampled "Hijack" before J-Lo. They accused her of stealing their sample. lol

Not the song, but I think Madonna sampled Roxanne's video. razz
