What Bieber should do, in order to cross over, is release a sex tape.

Goodbye Disney but hello our post-Kardashian modern celeb-iverse.

Bieber is very talented & gifted. But he has no swagg whatsoever unlike JT. His people are trying too hard to make him appear to be a sex symbol/ladykiller. JT knows how to use what he has & is more soulful & urban. I think even if they used Bieber's "girlfriend" Selena Gomez instead of the lookalike the video still would have looked fake.

Bieber is very talented and gifted?

Are you serious? He can't sing... and that's where is supposed 'talent' lies.

Yes! Bieber is a gifted multi instrumentalist. I always give credit when its due...Actually Prince is his musical idol...

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Justin Bieber to Prince in 5 easy steps

justin-bieber-prince-getty.jpg

Justin Bieber appeared on Barbara Walters' "10 Most Fascinating People" special Thursday (Dec. 9 2010), but anyone watching "The View" that morning got word of an interesting snippet of Barbara's Bieber interview.
During a surprise visit by Prince, Babs told the legend of her interview with the budding superstar.
"He said, 'What I hope, is that I can be like Prince,'" she says. "You are his idea of the consummate performer."
Prince appeared both flattered and surprised, "The key to longevity is to learn every aspect of music that you can, and I hope that he does pick up an instrument and get a good teacher," he responded.
To help our favorite 16-year-old dreamboat along, we've compiled a to-do list of sorts. Follow these steps, and he'll be giving Prince a run for his money in no time.
1. Learn every instrument ever
Since Prince himself gave this advice, we figure it's gotta be good. The baby-faced crooner already has a head start, as he taught himself to play the piano, drums, guitar and trumpet while growing up. Might we suggest he pick up the (always useful) harmonica next?
2. Don't be fancy, just get dance-y
To quote the always insightful Pink, J.Bieb needs a few club ready hits. Sure, "Baby" never fails to make us crank up the volume and sing along, but if he wants to compete with Prince, a couple electro-pop dance tunes can't hurt.
3. ALWAYS keep a signature hairstyle
Prince definitely has a signature look and though it's been modified slightly through the years, he's always had a style all his own. Now, we certainly don't suggest a similar look for our boy, but what is Justin Bieber without the hair? We can't deny that his coif contributed to at least 32% of his rise to fame (possibly more), but we don't think that mop-top will work forever. Even The Beatles had to evolve their look. We suggest that at 18-years-old, when he's ready to join the ranks of the legal heartthrobs, switch up the 'do. No boring crew cuts for this cougar bait, though. No doubt there will be a committee to decide on his next hairstyle -- which we would like to take this opportunity to nominate ourselves for. This decision could take a while so we better start meetings early in the new year.
4. Create an awesome logo
We hope to never speak the phrase, "the artist formerly known as Bieber," but a cool logo never hurt anybody. We advise that he introduce said artwork during a time of transition. Which could be a part of three scenarios:
A.) When he turns 18 and debuts a fresh haircut

B.) If and when he suffers from creative differences with Usher and/or Island Records and blows that popsicle stand, or

C.) When he starts writing music about a real, adult relationship.
5. Date some starlets
We're not looking for the next Joe Jonas here, but Prince has been linked to the likes of some pretty saucy ladies. Madonna, Kim Basinger and Carmen Electra to name a few. Then there was Sherilyn Fenn (who was once engaged to Johnny Depp) as well as a few lesser known musicians. The Biebs was already spotted smooching Jasmine Villegas in a car, but we could also see a potential romance with the blonde and super adorable Disney up-and-comer, Anna Margaret. Maybe when he's old enough, he can make our tweeny-bopper dreams come true and show up to the VMAs arm in arm with Selena Gomez.

Justin Bieber: 'I want to be able to do what Michael Jackson did'

Pop star Justin Bieber's talk with 'V' magazine's Elliot David is on newsstands and one thing he makes clear, and yeah, he's said it before, is that when it comes to music Michael Jackson is definitely his man.
Bieber talks about the late Jackson with a great respect, not quite a reverence, but a respect, not simply for Jackson being the King of Pop, but for the kind of person he was and what he'd gone through in his too-short life. He indicates he intends to reach the same dizzying pop heights the Gloved One reached and do it the right way, keeping fans, kids, parents, everybody's sensibilities in mind. "I’m never going to make myself so the kids and their parents don’t respect me. There are some artists (that parents) won't let their kids go and see because they think they’re a bad influence," he told 'V'. "I want to be able to do what Michael did. He always sang clean lyrics and...I don’t want to start singing about things like sex, drugs, and swearing."

that sounds like a bad-filler song of the Backstreet Boys, sung by a lesser singer

are we still stuck in the late-'90s teen pop sound? really? neutral

I think we're witnessing the beginning of the end of Just Bieber.

He DOES NOT have the crossover appeal that Justin Timberboob had. He's trying, but no. His fanbase is 12-15 year old girls, and he's outgrowing them. And everybody else hates him so there's no way to go but down. evillol

[Edited 5/4/12 15:14pm]

I have a feeling it is happening too and didnt want to say it. Once they reach that peak of 18...they dont get it back until the mid twenties to thirties...then they kind of figure out who they are in the business.

KCool, you say more things like that and people will just discount your opinion.

Bieber is neither Prince nor MJ. And he never will be.

Correct me if I'm wrong Michael fanatics but didn't Michael Jackson do an unofficial apprenticeship under Stevie Wonder that started around the time The Jackson 5 did backup for Stevie on his "Fulfillingness' First Finale" album? He watched Stevie work and watched everything everyone did in the studio because he was interested in production work?

The question is is Justin doing that? And who on earth is at the level of Stevie Wonder that he could apprentice under to make an equal comparison?

That's one big difference between the two there.

Prince said learn EVERYTHING you can about music. He's young but so far his learning seems to have stopped at Justin Timberlake.

How old was Michael when he wrote "Don't Stop Til You Get Enough"?

Yeah, the biebs is done for. One Direction are gonna do the same thing to him that he did to the Jonas Brothers. For whatever reason, the public doesn't have room for more than one Teen Idol/group.

I actually think the opposite. We all know 1D would break up some day, one person would go solo and then the group would crash and burn. Besides 1D's manager is Simon Cowell. Ew. Bieber hasn it made already as a solo artist. lols.

I'm surprised I haven't read this anywhere yet, but this Bieber song sounds SO MUCH like this Ying Yang Twins song. It seems he tried to remake it. With his very own talentless mark.

"Boyfriend" is stupid and weak. Wonder how it's selling zillions of copies and breaking records on Billboard. Yet I wonder how so many hits actually got to be hits in the US...
