Justin Bieber's 'Boyfriend' Music Video Disappoints Many Fans

Click the image to open in full size.

Justin Bieber has been teasing his beloved
Beliebers with snippets of the music video for his new single "Boyfriend" for
weeks now, working his very young fan base into a twee frenzy with clever
prodding via social media. Based on the segments Bieber shared with his
fans—including a scene in which he appears covered in grabby female hands—the
singer appeared to be moving into sultry new territory.

Not so. And many
of his fans are mighty disappointed.

Bieber's new video features your
standard music video hallmarks: Hot cars, hot women, an impromptu alcohol-free
hipster dance party that exists nowhere ever. It looks like an old Justin
Timberlake video edited for content by Disney, the sort of low heat fantasy a
middle schooler has about life as a high school senior.

While there were
undoubtedly some fans who wept with pride at the video, others were strikingly
honest. Sample tweets:
@MTV @JustinBieber If he was my boyfriend, I would
NEVER let him make this video. Very disappointed.

Disappointed in
@justinbieber's #BOYFRIENDvideo I loved the beginning, not that s**t with him in
a parking lot.

The teasers for Boyfriend were better than the actual
video. #BoyfriendVideoPremi ere #Disappointed Love @justinbieber
anyways

#BOYFRIENDvideo #BOYFRIEND @justinbieber I was expecting alot
more than that it looks like a scene from 2 fast 2 furious. disappointed
sad

Okay... @justinbieber if def a @jtimberlake copy cat! It's like an
urban mashup mv of Like I Luv You and Señorita! #DISAPPOINTED
#BOYFRIEND

@justinbieber For some reason i'm disappointed in the
#boyfriend video :/ sorry babe but i just don't like it. It doesn't seem like
you

@justinbieber The video was good, but honestly it seems like it was a
video that EVERY performer does. Kinda disappointed sad

Kind of
disappointed in @justinbieber new video. The teasers looked ill and he
completely changed it.

@justinbieber your #boyfriend video was the worst
most anticipated thing I've ever waited for. #disappointed #youcandobetter
#seriously

@justinbieber disappointed by boyfriend....guess you are just
like everyone else now. Girls and cars? Get your own swag.
#unoriginal

Disappointed... I stayed home to watch that. Should of stayed
with the teaser @justinbieber

Maybe Justin shouldn't toy with everyone's
expectations the next time around. Everyone hates a movie that doesn't live up
to its trailer.

It's hard, if not downright impossible, to grow up as a musician in the public eye.

Michael Jackson is the only guy I can think of that did it, and even he was out of the public eye for a few years in between.

I guess you can count Britney Spears in that loop, too.

I think we're witnessing the beginning of the end of Just Bieber.

He DOES NOT have the crossover appeal that Justin Timberboob had. He's trying, but no. His fanbase is 12-15 year old girls, and he's outgrowing them. And everybody else hates him so there's no way to go but down. evillol

The music video wasn't especially bad... it was just generic. The song however, was bad.

But I bet this thread goes on for 5 pages bitching about how all new music is terrible..

All he has to do is make a great album, and everybody will love him.. I think he's capable of making great music if he tried.. he clearly has some talent as a singer, songwriter and instrumentalist, but he appears to prefer making music for 12 year olds..

Isn't he supposed to be over by now? lol

He's lasted longer than I expected. I gave it a year and 3 months.

It's a lot of pressure for a kid. He really can't help it if he can't live up to hype that was never warranted anyway

No comparison, dude. A different time and a different place. Plus a musical genius that was and is singular.

I have to admit, I was really feeling the start of the video but then it turned mediocre. Also, dare I say I think his falsetto is better than Timberlake.

Eh...he still got nothin' on JT (and I'm not the biggest fan of yon original swagger jacker either). I agree young Justin has a smoother falsetto..but I'm gonna chalk that up to he's still young.

Not a terrible song but the dude has no charisma at all - it looks like it was a hard edit for the director - most of the time he looks out of his element.

-Why does he, Drake and Nicki Minaj do such terrible videos? With all the label support and big budgets they still manage to come across amateur. At least Rhianna's and Beyonce's videos have some artistic creativity.

If Tori Amos, Radiohead or REM put this video out then there'd be a story.

Bieber is very talented & gifted. But he has no swagg whatsoever unlike JT. His people are trying too hard to make him appear to be a sex symbol/ladykiller. JT knows how to use what he has & is more soulful & urban. I think even if they used Bieber's "girlfriend" Selena Gomez instead of the lookalike the video still would have looked fake.

This is his first song that I can listen to without wanting to stab my eyes out with super sharp scissors while im banging my head against the wall...

I cant stand his "swag" I wanna punch him in the face because he irritates the crap outta me!! That being said.. I think he is a veryyyyyyyyyy attractive young man!! lurking

JT had it because he didnt push it in your face.. I think Beiber is prettier than Timberlake, but JT has a sweet boyish charm and he has a great sense of humor, Plus he is good looking...That in my book makes him way hotter!

~~~~~ Oh that voice...incredible....there should be a musical instrument called George Michael... ~~~~~
Yeah, the biebs is done for. One Direction are gonna do the same thing to him that he did to the Jonas Brothers. For whatever reason, the public doesn't have room for more than one Teen Idol/group.
