Today is a relief for me. I have made a decision. It will comes as shocking for most but life must go on.
Dear LeToya,
I am writing this letter to you, no hard feelings, I am going to write to you like if we are close friends so I am going to keep it real 100%. This is very deep and I need you to take this seriously. I’ll speak for myself but I know a lot of the fans are sharing the same feelings.
I have been supporting you for fifteen (15!) long years. Since 1997 when you were in Destiny’s Child and followed you through the Anjel days up until your preparation to come out solo. And it’s not some light supporting. It’s buying ALL (music, movies, magazines, etc…) your shit 10 times (literally), requesting your stuff like crazy, talk about you to everybody converting hundreds of people into fans of yours, buying $150 Mary J Blige ticket concerts just to see you and leave right after your performance, taping you, making a hella great site that takes a countless amount of hours and that even your official have a hard time to match. I actually had been part of the other site since day one of its creation. Never took credit for anything but yes I was part of LeToyaOnline. What made LeToyaOnline was the fans. Not its administrator Ced. And that was the beauty of it, you had so many fans out there contributing all willing to make you successful. Each and every fan would bring something to the table. Each and every person there was full of energy and ready to fight for you in their way. After a few differences with that incompetent douchebag Ced I left, made LeToyaNews and the rest is history.
You might not realize this but my position in the entertainment business allowed me to lobby for you and allow you to get gigs without you even knowing it was thanks to me. I got you slots on TV for performances and interviews, magazine spreads and more. I am not going to mention which ones exactly but a lot of those, you would NEVER had got without ME. People always be asking me if I am your publicist lol. You don’t realize the importance and the power that fans – and especially those that are well placed – can have. If you lose a few you might lose great things.
Without your fans, Torn which started your career woudn’t have been a success, and let alone have your album debuting at #1. Your fans pushed really hard for you to succeed. It’s like we forced it. We wanted you to be a star and did everything for it to happen. Most artists would kill to have a fanbase like yours. I don’t understand this reluctance to communicate with your fans. Break the barrier already! STOP this secrecy. You have (had?) DIE HARD fans, not every artist has that. But for some reason it feels like you neither respect nor appreciate them. You make us feel like we’re trash, like we don’t count. You have said hurtful things to fans I won’t mention here. You shouldn’t forget that you’re on our payroll and that without us fans there wouldn’t be a LeToya.
You don’t understand how the new music industry works. Your mindset is still very old school. You always leave fans in the dark. As a result you’re losing them by the minute.
I appreciate you releasing a few webepisodes here and there but seeing that in 3 years recording you still haven’t found a hit song is worrisome. Ask Rihanna how long it takes her to record her albums and get these catchy hooks you’re looking for.
It seems like you “think” you’re doing the right things. Cool you have a few collabs leaking here and there, you tweet, have a few ustream, released that webserie . So you really believe that this is enough to keep us fans happy. WRONG.
I absolutely don’t give a F about Smooth Touch, I don’t care about Gospel plays, I don’t care about any of the acting. I wanted MUSIC and most importantly for some unknown reason I wanted to witness you being successful at it. It’s not just that I want to have more tracks from you. It’s that I want to see you enjoy success like a Drake or a Keri Hilson because I know you deserve it so much. I KNOW you can be at that level. A lot of the media are just snubbing you and I wanted to see this reversed. I wanted to see you EVERYWHERE. See your face and be proud of you! You’ve got the charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent to be the next Superstar. I wanted to be able to tell people “See! I’ve been rooting for her for so long and she finally made it HUGE! I knew it all along!”
Unfortunately girl you just keep disappointing me. It seems like you don’t realize what you got. You underestimate yourself like I never seen anyone underestimate themselves. You need to fight way harder! With the fans behind you NOTHING could’ve stopped you. There is a lot of frustration going in your fanbase because they all know that. You’re not taking yourself where your capabilities are. It feels like your entourage just don’t realize that either. That’s why you need your real fans in your team. Hearing on the series that you’re wasting time on auditioning for parts and learning lines irks me like metal scratching on a board. There is only 24 hours in a day and I would rather you focus on getting that album out. You’re not getting any younger and acting you can always do when you older, not music. At least not at the level we want you to be at.
However, IT IS YOUR LIFE and if acting is what you want to go for now IT IS YOUR RIGHT to do so. It is so obvious that you have lost your hunger for success in music. But since I am a fan of you by way of music if you can’t provide that there is no reason I should continue supporting you.
As I am growing older I’m starting to care about MY OWN life. Your life is not more valuable than mine. If you don’t care about your career then, there is no reason why I should care either. The problem is fans believed in yourself before you believe in you first. It’s usually the other way around. I’ve done so much for you but you have yet to thank me publicly in a non derogatory way. It’s always like some subliminal bullshit like “I love and appreciate people who do sites about me but please do not spread false rumors”. Are you fucking serious?? First you don’t have siteS. (There was only one aside of LO and that was us) 2. Do you think I’m on some Mediatakeout bullshit trying to invent stuff about you and spread that out? You think I’m stupid and trying to hurt you? I’m like bitch if only you’d communicate with us that wouldn’t happen. We relay info whether they are official or rumors. This is LeToya mothafucking NEWS. We don’t intentionally spread out fake shit. And as you noticed since like you say whatever we say spreads out like wildfire you would had be better off keeping in contact with us so everything that’s out would be 100% legit. Your mama Pam telling me check out with Ced ain’t cutting it since he don’t know shit in the first place. It’s actually the times when I relied on him that we got the wrong info. By the way , you not getting our April Fools Joke was just plain dumb of you.
I am tired of all the lies and the non existent communication from you. I see you got your new little twitter friends but how about you acknowledge the real people that’s been there for you since day one? Those who been moving mountains for you.
Not sure if you know her (but you should) but Ms Irish, one of your number one fans stated: “I no longer put energy into how she shapes her career. If she wants to keep conducting things like this, all on her. She’ll always have a soft spot from me but I’m not worried about LeToya anymore” .
That’s exactly how I feel. And if the both of us -the biggest LeToya fans ever- feel that way there must be a big problem. There is no reason why i should continue to put time and MONEY into you. This site is costing me cash and it is not worth it. I don’t feel love from you. You took our love for granted. One example is you always say thanks to random Z-list celebs who retweet your web-episodes but never you thank us for anything. So that’s it, I’m done. The ride ends here.
Believe that the closing of such a large fan source as LeToyaNews is a serious blow to your online presence, we are the ones that truly kept the public up to date on what you do by the minute. Seems like you don’t realize that privately run fan sites have become one of the main ways in which record labels seek to promote their artists. Try Googling your name + anything you have ever done and see what comes out first… LETOYANEWS.COM.
Take BeyonceOnline, it’s Beyonce’s “official site” but BeyonceWorld has done such an amazing job promoting Beyonce over the last decade that they are often sent exclusives from her label and members of her camp. Likewise, Rihanna routinely mentions her various fan run sites on Twitter and acknowledges the affect they have had on her career. you have yet to do that. Without a huge online presence your career may continue to spiral downward. Your official website LO is never updated and your few irrelevant tweets are not enough of a replacement for the FREE PROMOTION (I know some fansite owners who get paid $1000 weekly) given to you by such a dedicated fan source that was LeToyaNews.com. I went as far as suggesting to you a year or two ago that I could finance a professional DVD like vid...ert of you for the Lady love era to set it in stone and so people of the world would get to discover songs from the album. THIS is something the fans would have loved to get. But what happened? your management just told me to go fuck myself. (in other words of course but same meaning) Like seriously???? Now you don’t have any professional footage so what did you use on your webserie? Something recorded on an iphone and that you got from youtube. Great look!
There are so many ways we’ve stretched and milked the tiny little bit of updates to fill in your absence but we reached a point where it becomes ridiculous to continue. A lot of your fans say that you constantly disappearing will be the death of your career. The way you treat them is just wrong. I don’t advise ANYONE to waste their time creating another site for you. Because at the end of the day you just won’t give a fuck. I don’t think I ever felt so disrespected by any other artist. I feel like you are unappreciative and you don’t deserve me and my help.
Anyway when your album comes out, if ever, I’ll definitely download it on rapidshare. I’ll enjoy it but no more me buying hundreds of them and selling them around for you.
I wish you good luck in all your endeavors. I just won’t be part of it nor contribute to any of it. I wish you to go far even without me. My advice to you: hire a few of the fans you have left to be part of your team. ONLY THEM can truly understand you and fight for you. If you want I can recommend you a few (and some of them are actually in the business, it’s not because they are your fans that they are beneath, on the contrary).
You just lost one of your greatest stan.
PS: If you don’t address this, it will be the proof to me that you don’t give a damn about your fans. #BYELETOYA
