Loverboy ~ Lovin' Every Minute Of It You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I dig this song! Loveboy seem to be seen by the lesser of those arena rock bands of the 80's. But they do have some jams Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I like this song in a campy way.
Their first 2 records had some genuinely kick ass songs - Lucky Ones, Turn me Loose, take me to the top, When It's Over..

The lady in the black dress serving drinks is Jenilee Harrison from Three's Company. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Don't know, never heard of it. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I never got Loverboy. They just seemed like some run of the mill band taking up airwaves "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

They're fun party rock. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

So are any number of forgettable 80s bands "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

They can't be that forgotten if they got a VEVO channel. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

That doesn't mean much "Lack of home training crosses all boundaries."

This is the kind of stuff I listened to in the 1980's. I didn't listen to much R&B radio after 1984. I'm like Vainandy, most of it didn't appeal to me. I was Top 40 and MTV. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Loverboy was one of those bands that missed the boat of becoming an arena/stadium rock band. I don't know how popular they were perhaps they appealed to the college crowd. This was a good tune definitely underrated but their best tune will always be 'Working For The Weekend' in some radio stations its still played every Friday at 5pm

They were somewhat popular, but not super huge like Huey Lewis & The News or Bon Jovi. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

One of my favorite 80s rock bands! Their 1981 Get Lucky album is a must-have.

That makes me think of Columbia Club ads. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
