Lionel Richie #1 127k LIONEL’S TRAIN KEEPS A-ROLLING: In what can only be described as a seismic reaction to his CBSspecial which aired Friday night, Lionel Richie’s Mercury Nashville debut, Tuskegee—in its third week of release—will vault over Adele and Nicki Minaj to take the #1 spot on this week’s HITS Album Sales chart at around 125k, more than double our midweek projection. (4/16a)
This is the projections from thursday lionel's total has doubled since then Adele (XL/Columbia) 85-95k [Edited 4/17/12 13:41pm]

Proof old school promotion still works.

He has promoted the hell outta and if he hadnt it wont be selling shit but then u have to remember he has made country remakes with super country superstars. country still sells and i hope he books more promos for this week he could potentially be number 1 next week too.

I think you said the keyword: "country".
I did hear Adele may do 110K this week on Billboard though.

From billboard projections
That honor will probably fall to Adele's 21 -- again! -- which could move perhaps 90,000 to 100,000 and notch a 24th nonconsecutive week at No. 1.
this has since changed | |

This is the projections from thursday lionel's total has doubled since then Adele (XL/Columbia) 85-95k Who the fuck are some of these artists? What a group of horrendous records, Good lord, and people think the industry is thriving ....really ..... Where? If u take Adele's record out of the mix of sales music wouldn't even be on the radar of the world "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Some people come out of the blue, huh?

I didn't even know Monica had an album out? My how her & Brandy have fallen. 62k? Really?

monicas last album ~2yrs back opened with 184k quite a big drop off

RCA ain't really promoting it.

This makes me scared for Brandy.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Good for him if he's able to hold on to it. I don't mind seeing veteran, well-deserved acts still selling records.

BET should give Lionel the Lifetime Achievement Award this year come to think of it. It's good timing.

This should be a nice little warning for Ms. Norwood to come strong on her first single. Although I've always felt that Brandy should probably benefit from their duet more so than Mo. I think people miss Bran more, due to her absence from the music scene. Regardless, anticipation don't mean jack if you still don't deliver the goods in a song.
She better call Keith Crouch or somone else that's hot with a fresh sound that fits her.

Aslong as Adele is kept off the #1 spot tisallgood.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Right. Except for the IRS thing, things have actually gone well for him this year so far.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yep She also had a hit R&B single at the time of her release. What a difference that made.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
J Records was still active during that time plus I think the album was rush released. Just wasn't no thought process behind it like it was for the previous album.

She also had that reality show right? That's what probably pushed it the most. [Edited 4/16/12 12:22pm]

That's what I'm saying.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I think the reality show was out in 2009...

Oh ok. | |

Like it matters? We've only seen her name at the summit I don't know, 23 times...
As long as that Nicki trash is kept off the #1 spot tisallgood.

I'm listening to it right now. It sounds pretty decent.

I've never even heard of the majority of the names on that list. I think when I got rid of cable TV, that made the difference. Best move I ever made getting rid of cable. Andy is a four letter word.

I mean really that list of albums features about 90% artists that will never ever record again, we do all realize this....so how can an industry thrive when theres no catalog (future sales) being built, this business model of selling is done, the 90's are over, almost 30 years ago now, let it go.
I mean what the hell are the following.... One Direction (they are one and done, the only reason i heard of them is because Paul McCartney said something about their lame asses)
Hoodie Allen ? what the f is that Gotye? sounds like a farm animal The hunger games is that lame movie heard of that Of monsters and men is this another lame movie? Trip Lee? sounds like a football player Prince Royce, is this another wack rapper that will sell only in the south? Luke Bryan? first of all LUKE? like George Carlin said on his last of names, LUKE is not a real name Alabama Shakes WTF? sounds like a store
What is this nonsense? No one on this list will ever record again, someone call them and let them know NOW! "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F
