Marvin hands down. I like Donny, don't get me wrong, but I have to be in a certain mood to listen to his music. As for Marvin on the other hand, he has songs that fit every one of my moods.

Marvin all the way. I do like Donny, but Marvin has a pure, beautiful voice. His lyrics and arrangements are amazing.

Although Donny's catalog is more uneven, I will say that IMO Donny's Extensions of a Man is one of the Greatest albums!!

Donny's opening composition and segue is sweeping and magnificent.....

I forgot about Extension of a Man. Correction: Donny had two great albums (Everything is Everything and Extension of a Man). The Donny Hathaway one is good for his interpretations of other tracks (I still prefer his versions of "A Song for You" and "Giving Up") but I preferred the albums with the original material.

I also love the scope of Extension Of a Man....in addition to the opening suite, he'll do a song like Magdalena.....

and then turn around and throw this instrumental like Valdez in The Country on ya

then, finish you off with this Leon Ware ballad.....
