He didn't lose interest in his music, the public did. That man was/is desperate for popularity and accolades for being the "king" of nothing, all because of the success of only one album. Once his third record failed and essentially ended his career, every time he and Whitney were recorded somewhere together, usually for some event regarding her work, he always had to be in the way by doing or saying something stupid near Whitney in front of the camera or by talking about himself, in attempt to sway attention away from her. The Diane Sawyer interview and the behind-the-scenes video for the photoshoot for her Greatest Hits DVD shows excellent examples of what I'm talking about. House husbands stay quiet in a corner somewhere, holding their wives' coats or drinks or something. This loser was obnoxious and invasive. The real house spouse in that relationship was actually Whitney, 'cause she tolerated and even at times supported his behavior, just to love and soothe his unwarranted ego. Well that's not entirely true lol Bobby did stop all of a sudden. Also I think his drug addiction and alcoholism definitely made it impossible for him to do anything plus Whitney was making the money so he basically stopped. Bobby got his head back when he and Whitney divorced her because he's been touring more often.

And you seem like you live on Fantasy Island. But you did get one thing accurate for once: Yes I do disdain Bobby Brown. Congrats on assuming that correctly. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

Yeah, Bobby tanked on the public before the public tanked on him. It was like he just couldn't be bothered anymore. Later Whitney kinda of did the same thing...she seemed to get tired and just chucked it all in. Bobby seems to have done it around the time of the "Bodyguard" and Whitney after "Waiting to Exhale"...or is that just me?!

I'd say around "The Preacher's Wife" is when Whitney got fully tired of it but she did start to become a little irritable around "Exhale".

I think it was after My Love Is Your Love

Geez. I'd forgotten that she did that movie too.

Cause the news was overshadowed by MJ's wedding/Debbie's pregnancy. I remember reports back to back in those days. They would call the two king and queen of pop

Yeah Whitney said to Oprah around the time she did that movie is when she stopped caring about show business. And started to overindulge. She was already using drugs when she did "Preacher's" but it became an addiction afterwards.

Damn shame. I just think they (read Clive) tried to push her so hard into being something she wasn't, that the woman just couldn't deal after a certain point. Whitney was many things, but an actress she wasn't.

Whitney's drug use skyrocketted after her extensive Bodyguard Tour. I believe that she was fully tired of it all by then, she was literally one of the biggest stars on the planet and people didn't leave her the hell alone. She had a young child and was still a newly wed. It's hard being THAT popular and trying to manage being a mother and wife.

Yeah I remember readin an interview she gave during the time The Bodyguard Tour was going on for Rolling Stone and she mentioned how "it just wasn't fun anymore" because she had been in the business since she was 11. Plus I think she knew she couldn't top what she did with "The Bodyguard" and anything prior to it and protested to no avail to let her have time to herself and she couldn't. She was still overworked at the time of her death. No one wanted to give her space.

Yeah, I can only imagine how much pressure she was under after "The Bodyguard".
It must be said that even tho these two were addicted, they DID seem committed to having some sort of family life, at least for a time.

Did La Toya ever speak out on her thing w/ Bobby De Barge?

I remember in 1999,during the 'My Love Is Your Love' tour,Whitney was scheduled to do a show in my area. The audience was seated, waiting patiently for the show when they heard an announcement over the loud speakers: "We regret to inform you that tonight's Whitney Houston concert has been cancelled. You can get your refunds at the box office".Audience members were pissed! A local radio station was talking about it and taking calls from angry fans. The DJ said "It's not right,Whitney and it's not OK".The venue later sued her. What really sucks is that, she never came back and did another show to make up for the show that cancelled.

I would have been pissed to. But back then it wasn't the first time she did that. It should have been expected. will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! Here's the response song for "Nighttime Lover"
Personally I like "Hearts Don't Lie", so I don't think this was her only decent tune. Speaking of, I'm re-reading her book now along w/ Tommy De Barge's new one. Ahh the smell of crazy in the morning!
