Hasn't one of Rebbie's kids tried to enter the biz? It's the boy IIRC.
Actually all three of them tried. Stacey and Yashii Brown seem like they either stopped or are at least doing music independently. Austin's the one that's trying to get fame right now.
Well I'm not surprised that they've tried. The much of the 3rd gen of Jacksons seem rather a talentless bunch who somehow believe that because they're Jacksons it's gonna happen for them. They have "La Toya syndrome" in addition to "Jacksons disease".

Yeah Jacksonmonia. They need to get that checked for thinking they're gonna be the next MJ or Janet... [Edited 3/8/12 14:34pm] |

Huh? How would any of us know if she's incorrect or not being that we're not apart of her family? She's been a member of her family for nearly 60 years, so I'd think she has some practice.
The only thing we have is to judge what she said by what comes out later. Based on that, I'd say she understands them very well.
I have a few relatives like her. They're the first ones to talk about what they've seen or heard about another family member, and yet the first ones who interpret almost everything wrong. Mainly because they only witness things partially, or was told tales by others and then convoluted the information, but think they know the whole story.
I'll tell you one place where she was absolutely and tragically right. In the book she spent lots of time dogging her brothers about how they treated the women in their lives. In fact, I think it was La Toya who spilled the beans about the whole Jackie-Enid-Paula Abdul mess (Paula was staring to get hot when the book came out). Well she told a particularly ugly story abut how Jackie beat Enid in front of the family.
Flash forward a few years from when the book came out and there was this awful (and quite true) story about this woman Jackie was dating that committed suicide and his young son Siggy finding her body. That's a matter of public record, so... Let's not even touch the Randy drama...and yup she went there.
La Toya's comments years before about all the domestic violence and women drama w/ her brothers really got an ugly confirm, doncha think? |

Yeah La Toya first wrote about Jackie and Paula Abdul fucking, then Margaret Maldonado brought up the same story. I need to read their books. There was some GREAT tea on both... |

La Toya blew that one all the way up re: Jackie and Paula. We were quite shocked at the time and it had explained so much that had been mysterious in the past (see Victory Tour). It also made the fact that Janet had used her for her vids like
I mean, this woman was laying up w/ your married brother causing all sorts of foolishness and now his other sister helps her blow up professionally?! Naw man...just naw!

By the way! None of what I'm saying has anything to do with Janet.
Speaking of Janet ...another thing I used to think so odd back then was that Janet and La Toya were almost presented as something like fratenal twins, w/ Janet being the mature one! Considering that La Toya was 10 years older than Janet, it REALLY struck me as odd. If you didn't know any better, you could have easily thought that they were like 2-3 years apart in age rather than 10.
Janet is kinda La Toya's opposite yet balance, methinks. She has always been the one who rarely says much, but just does whatever. La Toya's the mouthy one who's always running off 'bout other folks, but Janet quietly gets freaky in her own style. Both are just as scandalous in their own ways, they just carry it out differently.
Janet probably has more eccentricity than La Toya about 5 more people COMBINED!
I have nothing bad to say about Janet.Nothing! will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. |

Try multi millionaire! La Toya got something like $5 mil for her Moulin Rouge show towards the end of its several year run....and this was in the early-mid 90s! Big bread for those days! Not to mention all these commercials and little cheesy projects she's done all over the world for 25 years or so....they may be cheesy but they bring da big chedda!
She and Jermaine are also very well connected to super rich people (remember that pic of La Toya and ones of those super rich BH Housewives?) and those kinds of people will pay an artist absurd amounts of money to privately perform for an evening/weekend/etc. Both of them got it much better than they let on!
I don't know much about Rebbie and Nathaniel Brown, so tell me their scoop.
Well I know Rebbie and Nathaniel have never been in the news about having to put whatever home they're living in California up for sale (I forgot when they moved to California but they didn't stay long in, I believe, Kentucky) or filing for bankruptcy. And I do think she got paid for things she did in the '70s and '80s once she began her own career. And never have to borrow money from her siblings and parents (when the parents had money like that).
actually when janet and rene divorce was made public reebie's name was listed on janet's expense items. she was giving her something like 10,000 a month, marlon's name was also on there |

Trying to advance her career, I'd venture to guess! Your naivete is sweet, but come on, have a little imagination. People have schtuped anything and everything to get ahead since forever, so a little thing like being gay isn't something that would stop someone from dipping into the hetero side for a hot minute!
Yeah, I guess that makes sense. And it worked a bit. But the rumors didn't really stop until she married Bobby. Change it one more time.. |

I don't know if you saw my other post, but I'm actually a skeptic about the Whitney-Jermaine affair. La Toya and Margaret may have thought they did, but my gut don't buy it. Didn't when I was 10 years old and don't now! |

Jermaine was too nice-acting for Whitney. Whitney wanted a bad boy. Randall Cunningham wasn't gonna do it. Eddie Murphy surely wasn't gonna do it. Whitney wouldn't have wanted to marry Denzel despite some fans wanting to believe that. Neither would she had really consider being with Robert DeNiro or Kevin Costner (who to me seem more in love with Whitney than Whitney with him). She wanted someone like Bobby. Don't surprise me she thought (if rumors are right) Ray J. was a dimepiece to her. She wanted someone who was like her or edgier. |

Jermaine, despite his faults, is still too much of a "good boy" to attract Whitney. I never knew that Costner had a thing for her... I'm not surprised if she helped Rebbie, tbh. Margaret basically said that Rebbie got help from her family discreetly...groceries, bills, etc. As for Marlon, I'd heard over the years that he had some very tough financial times, so I'm glad to know Janet was helping him out some. I'm quite sure she helps Joe too being that she's apparently crazy about her Daddy.
Oh well, who can knock Janet for being generous?! |

She HELPED Joe. She stopped when Joe kept getting into financial hot water. Michael was also paying for his father's financial bullshit until he finally got tired of it too. For years, the Jackson family used Katherine as their weapon for Michael to get them money. Sometimes he complied, sometimes he didn't. They never tried that on Janet because Janet would tell them to fuck off. |

Whitney seemed to like men who were much younger than herself....whatever her real attraction to men actually was. She def wasn't into White dudes (I recall De Niro trying to holla....and lets NOT forget that infamous Serge Gainsbourg come on on French tv ) so most of the men associated w/ her pre Bobby don't add up to much. IMHO, Bobby was the 1st man she was diggin' cuz he was very young, very cute, and probably one hale of a lover!

I saw Bobby perform back then....hehehe! If he gave her 1/10th of what he did on stage
On the serious tho, Bobby (unlike that Ray J bum) wasn't the world's worst choice for her in many ways. He seemed content to let her take the driver's seat in a way I think most men her age or older probably wouldn't have. Relatively few men probably would have been so comfortable w/ her huge fame as he seemed to be. |

But on the serious tip, Whitney said she felt Bobby made her be "herself" and not "Whitney Houston". I don't think someone who lived as closeted in their childhood and adulthood as Jermaine would've allowed that... Bobby was more "real" so she picked him because of that. Plus Jermaine was married and Whitney had to have known that. I'm guessing once she began to get the 411 on Jermaine she cut him loose before Jermaine REALLY made a move on her. |

Yep thats true. She was giving Rebbie and Marlon 10,000 or 15,000 monthly. It was also one more person listed and I thnk it was Rebbies husband. People always talk about MJ taking care of the family, I wonder how much Janet has contributed especially since in recent years MJ could barley pay his own bills. |

Bobby has "swag" and Jermaine doesn't...let's just be real! Bobby also seems very open minded and probably not even phased by Whitney's thing for women (read Robin Crawford). Methinks Jermaine's ego couldn't have handled a woman having so much more fame/money than he did, let alone her complicated sexuality. He seems too much like a male chauvanist.
In '84-85 Jermaine didn't look to be wanting to leave Hazel either...no matter how much he played around. The whole Margaret thing years later is what forced the sitch. Whatever happened or not between him and Whitney would have been a limited thing no matter what.
Once Whitney's career blew up, she went on her own thing and didn't look back at Jermaine's sorry ass...as much as I can recall. Whitney and Jermaine seems even more manfactured now than it did then. Meh. [Edited 3/8/12 22:53pm] |
