Why not much on Tammi Terrel in this Unsung, or did everybody already cover that? I expected to see more.

wasn't it a Lincoln? | |

They did an Unsung on her already.

Yeah, he tried. That was big, especially for that time. Otis was trying to explain away their situation. He was getting on my last nerve. I would've liked it better without Otis, just Dennis Edwards.....but I knew they were going to have to do something with Otis since so few of the Tempts are living.

I saw that one, but thought they might get into her relationship with David Ruffin. I thought they might do some on his brother too. They only have an hour though, and a lot of that is commercials.

Best not to considering her brain cancer/death and his history of abusing her. So not a good look.

Okay, a Gucci'd out Lincoln. I bet he drew a crowd in the streets when he was comin' through.

I was hoping they would had left Otis out just this one time and give others' perspectives on David's life, but nope, here's his ass once again. As far as the Tempts go, Otis is the only living original Tempt, the rest who are/were (remember there are more ex-tempts than anything ) a part of the group are all replacements. Dennis is technically a replacement too, but he is probably the only Tempt to replace another who made significant contribution to the group (the songs he lead earned the Tempts a grammy) as if he were an original member.
I had to laugh when Shelly Berger was talking about how David wanted to be looked at like he was the lead singer of the group and said "there wasn't just one lead singer in The Temptations, David could lead, Paul could lead, Eddie could lead, Melvin could lead...no one man was bigger than the group"....notice he didn't say shit about Otis. That's because won't nobody coming to see Otis! [Edited 3/6/12 10:01am] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

You know from the movie when he was at the crack house

I always thought it was funny how he was so quick to fire group members when the only thing he could sing was backup!!! I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

that part in the mini series had I feel like Otis already gave his side of the story in the movie, I was tired of him. Dennis was a replacement, but I was surprised that Dennis got that call. dennis was making more sense than Otis, but they needed someone around from the beginning. Too bad David, Paul, Eddie, and Melvin are gone. When I first saw Otis, I thought, what the hell does he have on? I guess we just got stuck with him.

So can Ruffin Jr sing? with his fine ass

Did they touch on Jimmy Ruffin much?

Dennis made more sense than Otis because Dennis sounded a whole hell of a lot more SINCERE than Otis did. Also you can tell that Dennis really KNEW David on a more personal basis aside from just being groupmates. I don't think (and it's obvious) that Otis never really took the time to get to know Ruffin at all. All the times I've heard Otis talk about David, its almost as if he still has a chip on his shoulder for the guy. I'm sure David didn't care for Otis just as much as Otis didn't care for David. Eddie wasn't too keen on Otis either, especially when he started messing with Paul and threatening to fire him.
Lawd wouldn't it had been something else if Eddie, Melvin and Paul were still alive to give their opinions? I bet it would had been very interesting. [Edited 3/6/12 10:20am] I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Not sure, but he don't have to.
I know when the nephew sung a few notes, he was on point and you could even hear the "Ruffin" sound in his voice. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Gurl, you right | |

Nah. Also I think Jimmy is based in England and I guess he couldn't be contacted so his son took up for him.

No not really, which was surprising. They glossed over David's relationship with Tammi Terrell too, but it didn't bother me because they went in on that conversation on Tammi's epi of Unsung. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I didn't expect them to talk much about David and Tammi since that was already covered well enough on Tammi's episode. So it made sense.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Do you think David maybe wanted or tried to attend Tammi's funeral? I'm pretty sure the family most likely didn't want him there. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah I believe so but the Montgomery family only trusted MARVIN to be there...
