SONGS ABOUT LOSING A CHILD

Music touches on many issues ranging from war to sex to murder and even politics and religion but it seems there haven't been to many songs about the death of a child.

The only one that comes to my mind is Eric Clapton's Tears in Heaven which is a beautiful song despite the subject matter.

Have there been many songs of this nature?

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!
RIP Dick Clark, Whitney Houston, Don Cornelius, Heavy D, and Donna Summer. rose

I vaguely remember Mz Pepsi Riley's song. Somehow i thought it was about welcoming the new birth of a child. sad Gotta listen to it again.

It was stated in the Unsung episode that Bow Legged Lou wrote the song after he lost a child. He tweaked the lyrics to make it about a mother being thankful for her child.

What about "Miracle" by Whitney? It's about abortions. Does that count?

Nah cuz the song was about many things including poverty, imprisonment, being alone and shit like that.

Tori has several songs addressing that subject.

Listening to the second one right now cool

I didn't know he stopped writing songs about her miscarriage cuz it pissed off her husband. sad That's just mean. Music is meant to heal and give people and outlet for what they're experiencing in their lives.

Check out Cindy Bullens, "Somewhere Between Heaven and Earth". It's an entire album dealing with the loss of her daughter Jessie who died at 11 of cancer. It's an incredibly beautiful, sad, powerful and ultimately hopeful album. Cindy's older daughter duets with her on one of the tracks.

The last track - "Better Than I've Ever Been" - in particular is inspirational.
