the Pina Colada song isn't really a million miles away from disco either, for that matter.

It's considered "disco," but not really is. Same thing with "Disco Lady" from Johnnie Taylor. There's nothing disco about that song.

Include anything by Jim Croce - especially Time In A Bottle. And Dr. Hook & the medicene show put out some real crap. Also anything by John Denver. But you hit it right on the head with Gino Vannelli - he stunk big time.

Now, don't get me wrong. I didn't say I hated these songs. "Afternoon Delight" was just confusing because they were like a strange hybrid wannabe of Manhattan Transfer and ABBA. And that ending, "Aaaaaaaaaaafter, afternoon delight!" was indicative of what the song was really about. It just ended too soon - like an anticlimax! LOL!

And "Spiders and Snakes"? What was that line - "I don't like spiders and snakes, and that ain't what it takes to love me," always made me laugh out loud. For my choices, I was just thinking they were odd choices to be considered hits just based on cheese factor - but then again, so much of the 70's was just that. Disco or not. (And I think I actually miss them! lol )

There's another one, but I can't recall the title. The guy sang orders, "Throw another log on the fire, cook me up some bacon and some beans. Now go out to the car and lift it up and change the tire...." I always felt sorry for the woman he was commanding around. Of course, I think I was, like, 7, so none of it made any sense to me!
