hmm.. I have the album "Experience: Jill Scott 826+" sitting on my CD shelf, unopened.. maybe I'll give it a listen today. I've never heard any of her music before, but I found this CD for $1, so I bought it.

40? I could've sworn she was like 37 or 38 at least. Wow.

I love Jill Scott. Her music does similar things for me to what Badu does.

That's a good album despite my dislike of live albums, and for $1 it's a steal, however I would recommend any of the 3 Words & Sounds albums as a better starting point.

wink

I'm listening to it now. Only on track 2, but I like it so far.. though I think I'd rather hear a studio album. According to the sticker on the case, disc 2 is studio tracks, so maybe I'll like them better. I don't usually like hearing songs live if I've never heard the original studio version.

I'm sure you'll love it. "Lyzel in E-Flat" is a masterpiece. You'll see what I mean when you hear it. nod

I can't speak for everyone, but her debut was the only album that still sounds fresh & exciting to me.

Remember her scene from "Why Did I Get Married?" while she's driving when she said something to the effect that "I don't wanna listen to something that makes me drive off a bridge"? Well lol thats how I feel about her music.

Great voice, coma inducing material though.

becouse it is!!

her first album was so so good,so fresh,so organic ,so artistic

just an utter masterpiece.

a long walk? lyzel in E??

buying her man strawberries and croissants??? i LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!

and her second was .......good.i loved it.nowhere near as good as who is? but still really good

AND THEN neutral neutral neutral neutral neutral

her 3rd sounded of an artist believing the hype...incredibly dissapointing and the rest i have heard snippets.

i now lump her in with angie stone...dull crowd pleasing soul with lots and lots of "positivity" blah blah

i actually saw her live touring who is? in edinburgh and it was amazing

saw her again two years later in glasgow and that was also amazing but i had noticed that she came across as slightly full of herself....

as to me her 3rd cd onwards soes

call it self belief,confidence etc

No. I still cringe at the times when I hear "Hate On" me getting played somewhere, which are far and few between.

Ya know that song was about okayplayer, right? Here this woman got everybody singing her praise, and what she do? Decides to sing about a message board because a bunch of posters weren't impressed with her music. That showed me how full of shit this woman is.

eek eek never knew it was about okayplayer!

she once wrote this sublime review of "parade" for a british music mag...i framed it it was so on point.

but i totally hear your point about being full of shit.

but sayig that i could wax lyrical about who is? all day!

Jill is one of the few true artists popular in mainstream music today. She sings like a angel and doesn’t need autotune. Her charisma as a performer is very intimate. If you ever get a chance to see Jill play a small club drop everything and do it. You will never forget that show.
