Southern US. I tried Target as their always the most up to date but the only cd's I found were either rap cd's or Lotusflo3r (which took up half of the cd section). So then I tried Walmart and they had it, but then I remembered that they only sell edited cd's so I went other similar stores looking and either they didn't have it or it was clean so I jsut went to amazaon and bought it.

Madonna lands 12th Number 1 with MDNA and overtakes Elvis' career record
01/04/2012
By Lauren Kreisler

Madonna retains her title as Queen of Pop as new album MDNA soars straight into the Number 1 slot on the Official Albums Chart this week. MDNA gives Madonna her twelfth Number 1 album here in the UK meaning she also overtakes music legend Elvis as the solo artist with most Number 1 albums.

Madonna’s twelfth studio album has seen her collaborating with top flight dance producers including William Orbit, LMFAO and Benny Benassi, and features single Girl Gone Wild, the video for which harked back to Madonna’s classic Erotica days.

MDNA’s final tally lands the release a comfortable 34,000 copies ahead of David Guetta’s Nothing But The Beat (2).

With Madge fever gripping the pop world this week OfficialCharts.com decided to investigate which of Madonna’s singles the UK have been purchasing in the download era. To see the results click here.

I sampled it on iTunes. Seemed like a good idea but his voice sounds weathered. Not getting why it's so huge.

I don't see how this is anything new or fresh compared to her albums released since Ray of Light. It sounds....the same. Sure the beats are a bit different, and 'sound' is asthetically a slight bit different. But, overall it still sounds like paint-by-numbers pop, and pretty forgettable at that.

Don't get me wrong, I like several of the songs, but I'm still struggling to figure out why she bothered.g. Certainly better than 20Ten, but that's not saying much.

Some fans set their expectations too high.We have to realize that there is nothing being done in pop music that is totally "new" or "fresh" these days.In 2012,is it even possible for Madonna (or anyone else) to break new ground? I don't think there is any producer (or team of producers) who could give Madonna a totally new, revolutionary sound that hasn't been done before.MDNA is as good as it's gonna get. This isn't directed at you personally, but I feel that some fans need to ask themselves....could it be that they are just over Madonna?

They won't be tunes we'll be hearing in a decade's time or anything

And that's fine.In my opinion, nobody is really making music that will be considered "classic" in a decade from now.The days of groundbreaking,innovative,life-changing music are over.Even Prince can't seem to come up with a stunning, mindblowing album that compares to his 80s classics. But to be fair,we can't really expect these people to.The musical landscape is so much different these days.Fans who are waiting around for another Ray Of Light or Like A Prayer are going to be really disappointed. You can't repeat something like that. The same applies to Prince,Janet Jackson,Stevie Wonder and any other artist who's been around for many years.

I agree to a certain extent, but I love it. I think the point is that this time around, it feels like she was involved, invested, in creating an album, unlike "Hard Candy" where you can tell that she barely had any input and probably wasn't very interested in making an album. The fact that her marriage was falling apart, she was a mother of 3 and was launching a campaign to save the African nation of Malousy are not evident on "Hard Candy." And her non-involvement with the release of "Celebration" was even more apparent.

At least this time around it's got something of a Madonna stamp on it. The lyrics are cliched, but I think she's actually working herself back into a music career at least. It may also be a sign of the times. She's keeping her finger on the pulse by putting out something that's just as irrelevant as everything else that's out there as far as pop music goes. In the '90s and early '00s, being artsy and edgy and creddy were in vogue, so her sounds and lyrics reflected that. In 2012, none of that matters, and so she's evolved to match. Possibly. But I'm hoping this is the first step in her getting back on track to the kind of pop artist and lyricist that she was on "Like A Prayer," "Erotica," "Bedtime Stories," "Ray Of Light," "American Life," and "Confessions on A Dance Floor."

One can hope. In the meantime, this is a good pop album, a decent Madonna album, and about 50% of it is just plain great. Which is much more than I was expecting after her last couple of releases that she barely bothered to show up for.

Very good point about the differences between music in the 90s versus music in 2012.And I agree, this is just a very good pop album. It won't change the world or sell 50 million copies (lol) but I think most longtime fans will appreciate the effort. As expected, there are plenty of catchy dance tunes here, but also some deeper, heartfelt ballads and midtempo numbers too.

After listening to this album for a week now,I have a few observations, see if you agree.....

***"Love Spent" has some of the best lyrics on the album.....frankly,if my name was Benjamin....we wouldn't be in the mess we're in lol Very clever,I love it!

***Isn't "Some Girls" one of the most 'fun' songs Madonna has done in years? This is a real club banger! Her vocals get lost in the production, but it's still the most intoxicating track on the album. While it's not strong enough to be a single, they should definitely make some remixes for the clubs.

***William Orbit has confirmed that Madonna did indeed have a cold when she recorded her vocals for "Falling Free".Isn't it amazing how singers can still sound amazing when they're suffering from a cold or fever? The best vocals on the album are in this song!

***Since "Love Spent" is really two different songs, shouldn't it be titled "Spend Your Love On Me/Love Spent"?

***It's so annoying that "Superstar" has great music but whack lyrics mad Madonna wasted a hot groove (and excellent production) on silly, juvenile lyrics.

***I love the extended jam at the end of "I'm A Sinner".I think this would be a perfect second song for the tour (right after the opener "Girl Gone Wild").

***Out of all the bonus tracks,"Beautiful Killer" is the best. This song should be on the standard edition.
