You feel me? So why would you carry on? Makes no sense... but of course Clive don't care. I hate that he even bragged he discovered her when Gerry Griffith said he (meaning Clive) wasn't even impressed with her initially. So he can save all that "she sent chills down my spine" bullshit for someone who gives a rotten fuck. I was impressed by Gerry's early stories of Whitney on Whitney and Bobby's E documentary and how he steadfastly claimed that Clive was trying so hard for Whitney not to sound "black". The way he said it sent chills down my spine. [Edited 2/13/12 13:06pm]

....Holly would if Holly could..............................but they don't canel events like this. It would be a logistics nightmare.

You know Clive sold his soul to the devil. Why should he care, he maybe headed way down south, while Whitney gets her wings.

It was a nightmare anyway.

Exactly! That's what I find so stupid and Lord knows I can't stand her. But you just don't leave a body upstairs all that time no matter whose it is. And as for them going on with the party, that old Silver Balled buzzard's only concern is money regardless of the quality of music, and now I see, regardless of someone's life. I wish it were as simple as u guys are trying 2 make it but it is NOT. There were people from all over the world in L.A. just 4 this event for a few hours in some cases. It is not simple 2 just cancel the show.

^ There were some people who were invited who didn't go because of the news. I doubt anyone was forced but if I was a celebrity and Clive Davis invited me to a party and something like that happened (Whitney's or anyone else's death), I wouldn't have attended either.

You all have valid points. If I were in charge, I would have push the start time back to at least get the body out of the hotel. It would be your choice to come or to stay away. With the social media that the way it is, you could have gotten the word out quickly.

Anyways, Whitney was already involved in show business as early as age 14 when she and her brother began singing background for Cissy. This was after Cissy and Whitney's father divorced. One of Whitney's first times in the recording studio was in 1978 when she sang for Chaka Khan. Whitney did get some fame by 1980 when she was singing in Carnegie Hall and then became a pioneering, in a way, teenage model for black youth. Then that offer with Michael Zager came after she sang lead on "Life's a Party" that year (1980) and that's what slowly started the Whitney Houston Story. When Clive Davis finally came into the picture, Whitney was already a seasoned pro. Cissy "discovered" her, then Michael Zager, then Jerry Griffith.

I heard Clive was actually upset at Whitney after 1990 for "going R&B" on him. All these years before, Whitney had pretty much agreed to go fully pop (like Diana Ross but more so than her) in order for him to continue the success he had with Arista (I think Barry Manilow was the original franchise Arista artist and there were some successes but not as big) and soon she became the best-selling artist Arista ever had with one album, continued with the second album. But after I'm Your Baby Tonight, I did start to see a distance. Whitney and her crew slowly began calling all the shots afterwards. We don't know much about Whitney and Clive's actual relationship. For years, it's been glossed up that Clive was a father figure to Whitney and all of that. I doubt that was the case at all especially after 1990. I doubt that was the case cuz a "father figure" wouldn't have disrespected his daughter like that. I think he uses their talents up and then has no more use for them, but hell don't they all.

Agreed 100%- I know deep down Andy that you never wanted to see Whitney disrespected like that-hell I wouldn't treat anybodys remains like that. Yes Clive will burn in hell! I may meet him there, but I know his ass is going.

I can believe it. Aretha ain't one to be tight lipped... this probably explains why she and Clive haven't sealed the deal yet on her next project!

I thought he was just gay..
He gave a shout out to his partner after some acceptance speech a while back.
A LOT of stuff is going to come out of the works now that Whitney is gone. The good, bad, and ugly. Did anyone ever hear that Natalie Cole and Whitney used to get high together? And those hollywood parties. They say Whitney was the ultimate party girl, booze, coke, the whole nine..
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Oh really? I had no idea he admitted he was gay like that. Interesting.
No I didn't know Whitney and Natalie got high together, I thought it was just with Chaka.

Come to think about it I have never heard Aretha say anything about Clive that would suggest that his attitude was other than what we think. As for him being gay and a supposed pedophile it is the first I've heard, but the pedophile shit doesn't surprise me. As somebody said, alotta shit is about to come out!

Yeah I don't think Aretha trusted Clive. I know he probably tried to push her to do tours overseas and Aretha let it be known she was afraid to fly and didn't want to and this is when Clive stopped focusing on her after 1986. I'm thinking Clive was trying to make her into his Tina Turner (you know use that same tactic used with Tina to catapult her back to the spotlight in the same way for Aretha) like he was trying to make Whitney his Diana Ross.

I'm the type of person that remembers not only the bad, but the good that someone has done for me also. When it comes to her and him, she was very good to him. She was his puppet and he made millions off of her. A "tribute" would be rescheduling the show for a different day. The very least he could have done if "the show must go on" is gotten the body out of there. The same police that were there for crowd control, could have easily gotten on their radios and called for more officers to block the streets in the area while the body was taken out. The show would have simply been "delayed" for a while. It wouldn't be the first time a show started late and it certainly wouldn't be the last. Andy is a four letter word.

Well Clive is going to make out like a fat cat. All Whitney's albums are in the top 10 downloads right now.
Just like MJ, dying was the best thing she could have done for her brand.

Whitney made his ass super rich-she did alotta good for him. How soon they forget. He could have at least postponed the party-I totally agree Andy.

Ur so right cuz Aretha let it be known she was never flying-maybe her will was a lot stronger than Phyllis n Whitney. Aretha was not having it.

I hear that Oprah is already preparing a special. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton
