They repeated that special for several years, Vh1 used to have the best shows. I set my DVR to record all 5 eps of this one on Friday, I'm glad I got spoiled with the list or I would have ruined several great pairs of underpants. |

While Ive always felt Madonna was ranked way to high on lists in general. This is a more accurate list of legendary and iconic women who have made a profound impact on music.
That list 2012 list VH1 made is a joke they are disgrace to music and had the nerve to put GREATEST and in the same sentence Rock and Roll what the fuck are these people smoking?

Madonna being #1 is all that matters. Couldn't care less who ranked below her, just as long as they're below her. Although just for arguments sake I will say that Whitney and especially Celine should have been higher...while Gaga, Janet, Adele, Mariah and Christina shouldn't have even been in the top 10. That list is garbage. If you are saying Greatest in Music there cannot be a list with people who came out witin the last 5 years. They have no history and we do not know what the future would be. Really Katy Perry????? While I love Adele...let's see where she is in 2 years.
These lists are to appeal to the youngsters who know nothing about music history, musicianship, talent or anything else for that matter.
Just my opinion though. Because of their half-baked mistakes, we get ice cream, no cake; all lies, no truth; is it fair to Kill the YOUTH ~~ Party Up |

I do not own a Beyonce album. i do not see what the big hype is with her. Has she made a song that will withstand the test of time, imo, no. especially, not like Whitney and Janet.
On a sidenote, I hope that Whitney's estate benefits from posthumous album sales. Doubt it, since she did not write/produce any of her songs (that's where the money is made) |

I dont own a Beyonce album either and she hasnt made one song let alone an entire classic album the same as Whitney and Janet has.... Shes a media darling and thats the only excuse for her overhype and oversaturation. Shes mediocre in the same sentence as them and the fact they had the audacity to place her above J and Whitney...but how much you willing to bet they wouldnt pull no shit like that with Madonna would never place Brittany Spears above her credible list or not

If artists who didn't have hits in the past 2 decades are not eligible, then they should rename the countdown and call it "100 Greatest Women in Music in the Past 20 Years". And then they need 2 include Aretha Franklin because "A Rose Is Still A Rose" was a hit 4 her in 1998. Don't hate me 'cause I'm NOT beautiful |

Adele right now is basically Ricky Martin but one extra hit.. she is a 2 hit wonder (at this point)
Where is Heart??? Can someone that actually play a musical instrument be in the top 10 - outside of Gaga & Alicia Keys they are the ONLY ones in the Top 20 to actually play something!!
As for Madonna she is a Fake Vanity. She was the White Vanity... a mix of Prince's sexual/controversy and Michael Jackson's dancing. She was "invented" because 2 Black Guys where going to run MTV for awhile because they were both basically in their early 20's. Ofcourse you couldn't have 2 black guys running the new thing in music.
But basically she was Vanity. Sexual, wearing underwear, pop star... you can mix in a little Blondie as well.

Blah Blah Blah. Madonna's sold over 350 million records, is the richest woman in music, was (unlike Vanity) inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame...and further was voted by the people as the #1 greatest woman in music. Your Vanity comparison (and rant) would be comical, if it weren't so skewed and ridiculous.
The End. [Edited 2/14/12 16:18pm] |

I think if they put Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj on the list then Foxy should be too.
I have a huge problem with ke$ha, Adele and Ga Ga being so high when they only have had one or two albums out.

Ann and Nancy Wilson should be on this list. Cher is on it and she is an older act. Yes, she had a hit in the 90s, and so did Heart. From the Brigade album "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love to You" (number 2 U.S.), "Stranded" (number 12 U.S.) and "I Didn't Want to Need You" (number 24 U.S.). Three other album cuts, "Secret", "Wild Child" and "Tall, Dark Handsome Stranger" were all Rock chart hits and received considerable airplay on US hard rock and heavy metal stations.
And the Desire Walks On album, "Black on Black II" (number 4 Mainstream Rock Chart, 1993) as well as the Top 40 hit "Will You Be There (In the Morning)".
They've also put out two albums in the 00s and are still around going strong.
Worst. List. Ever. [Edited 2/15/12 23:24pm] |

That random Adele and Gaga above Whitney Houston, with Madonna #1? And you can't put Beyonce nor Mariah over Whitney either, 'cause without her, their success would not exist.
Whoever wrote that list should be shot. With paintball pellets. In the face. "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee
