While it's too early to speculate how Whitney Houston died, what we do know is that tragically we have lost one of the greatest musical voices of our generation and most generations. She was one of my first celebrity crushes when I was in high school, and her voice at that time was flawless and a thing of pure beauty.

No matter if you were a fan or not...I was until she got into drugs so heavily and I watched a few episodes of her reality show losing all my illusions about how 'classy' she was...she had an amazing voice that gave me chills and I am truly saddened by this. sad She was too young. I was hoping she'd overcome her demons.

Well, okay. It's just that when people are upset/distraught and say "I cant take it anymore"

you kinda get worried about them.

I still don't understsand the shock at her death now that I've calmed down.

CNN correspondent is reporting that Bobbi Kristina & Bobby Brown are both surrounded

by friends and family.

Because it came out of nowhere. I had a feeling years ago that something would eventually happen to her though (the path she was going) but at the same time she was the last I would think.

How is it that Michael and Whitney fucked up their lives and are dead yet Prince and Madonna are still here and dropping albums and tours and Super Bowls like no one's business?

Bobby has to suffer a lot this year already. He lost his father (I believe), now he loses his ex-wife and the mother of their child... he never fully got over the divorce and now Whitney is gone. I'm SO glad his New Edition friends are with him.

Okay, I'm not shocked anymore.

But wow.

In perspective, she should've taken better care of herself.

Someone said it earlier in bad taste, but really, crack IS wack.

Gone too soon, just like that, to drugs.

Prince and Madonna somehow managed to avoid the pitfalls that Whitney and, to a lesser extent, Michael had to suffer from.

Let me just say I felt gutted tonight hearing about this.

I am in Kroger's of all place and a complete stranger walked up to me in total shock and asked did I know Whitney had died. and I didn't believe it because I was just here on the org not 3 hours ago reading about her messed up night on the town last night.

God rest her soul and bless her family.

Such a shock and so so sad. I am is total disbelief. Even though my mind is not surprised, my heart is.

I was routing for her to turn it around. Dammit.

Yeah, everybody back in the day thought Prince and Madonna were the crazy, balls-to-the-wall (or face) kinda people and that Whitney and MJ were the family-friendly, Disney-safe type entertainers. And in reality, it was the exact opposite. Just glad that they're still around at least. Though, I really wish my Lady T and Slick Rick were still here, as well.

Yes, she was a guest at the Pre-Grammy Party.

I really hope it wasn't a drug OD, but it most likely was.

Whitney was my favorite singer EVER. PERIOD.

I still remember the first time I heard her. I was in 4th grade, and I had a pet who was seriously ill. I was going to school one morning, and my mom told me that she would be surprised if he survived the day. I was in school the whole day thinking about him. I was working on an assignment, and I swear I could feel the exact moment he died. I started crying uncontrollably. It was so bad, that the teacher called my mom to come get me. She came to get me, and she was trying to calm me down. She turned the radio on, and "One Moment in Time" was playing. Somehow the song calmed me down. I have never heard a voice like that. I thought it was a white woman lol

I didn't know her name or the song, but for the longest time after that, I stayed up under the radio trying to find out who that magical voice belonged to. I heard it on the radio again some time later and I found out her name and her other songs. I've been a fan ever since.

Nah, she was fighting a very public battle with drugs dude. And even if her death is not the

result of drugs, I'm still not shocked that she's dead. Like MJ, she was an adored entertainer

who lived by a different set of rules.

We don't know the cause of death but c'mon: drug abuse, not drugs themselves, are a

muther fucker.
