Agreed. And what's Vol. 2 gonna consist of? All her greatest JAZZ hits? PLEASSSSSSE. She dumped her entire R&B core audience and's been gargling with White-Out for the past 25 years. WTF?!

Well said. I just fuck with 70's prime Natalie...yes I said it!

1975-1978 Natalie is all that really mattered. Anything after that I can't mess with though she did have some moments later on.

I agree...this compilation is a mess.First of all,I hate when they put 'live' versions on a Greatest Hits compilation. That makes very little sense, unless the live version is the definitive version of the song. This compilation features unnecesary live versions of "Mr.Melody" and "Our Love" when the studio versions would have worked just fine. Also, where are the hits "Sophisticated Lady","Annie Mae","Someone That I Used To Love" and "Jump Start"?? And as someone mentioned above, this set contains the inferior album version of "Pink Cadillac",when the remixed version is the one that was played on the radio and became a huge hit.Hopefully someday, they will make an excellent Natalie Cole compilation. This one surely isn't.

Remember in the 80s when Motown began issuing those cheaply packaged "Greatest Hits" compilations such as this one? disbelief this one is downright embarassing. It includes mostly single edits (only "Square Biz" and "I'm A Sucker For Your Love" are the album versions)....a song as captivating as "Portugese Love" must be heard in it's entirely! I used to own a few of these ridiculous sets but I later sold them. They're not worth having in my music collection.

Speaking of ruining "Greatest Hits" compilations with live performances, I hate it just as much when they do it with DVDs. This one is a perfect example:

I can't tell you how pissed I was when I spent bread on this just to find out the music videos for "Typical Male" & "We Don't Need Another Hero" were replaced with live performances. mad "Two People", "Help" as well as a handful of other videos were completely omitted.

Wow! Despite the mediocre music, she's not even smiling there, but the funniest part is the horrendous hot pink design and font. Why was this crimson magenta, pizazz style art so popular about 1987 - 88. This screams 1987, but knowing motown its probably 1989 to 1992 as they were behind in fashion design.

Like where people in the late 80s, was Fran Drescher their designer?

The artwork was so cheap and unispired. There were no liner notes, either. These things were just thrown together with no care or effort disbelief Thankfully,in the 90s,Motown began releasing quality compilatipons that included essays in the liner notes, rare photos, bonus tracks, etc.

I think GH collections should usually feature the single versions (single edits or single mixes) - if someone wants the album version, they can buy the album!

Too True

Motown really upped their game when Andre Harrell took over, at least in regards to Greatest Hits collections. Their Marvin Gaye one was excellent (The one with songs like Can I get a Witness, and even Sexual Healing) that was about 1994/5 and the Stevie Wonder Song collection about 1995/96 with most things from Fingertips to For Your Love are head and shoulders above Original Musiquarium.

Yeah a greatest hits for a mainstream artist with a decent career (Say at least 3 big hit albums or more and 5 or more huge hits) should have more than 10 or 11 songs, realistically it should be at least 16 if one disc and as many as 30 -40 for a double set.

There is one excellent Motown Hits collection from the 80s - The very best of the Supremes, totally complete from 1962's His heart belongs to me, up to the Post Diana 1976 hit I am going to let my heart do the walking. Its the one with lips on the front and its dated 1986. Its about 40 songs and includes every number 1 except "You keep me hanging on"

In height of recent events I remember how bad this one was:

[img:$uid]http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/516G5emppeL._SL500_AA300_.jpg[/img:$uid]

Only the U.S version though. The U.S version basically takes all the biggest hits and remixes them without including the original versions.

I always thought that as well... however, that 2nd disc has become my defacto workout playlist for the forseeable future.

weren't these collections something like $7?

I'd say it's pretty good tracklist for a budget release.

Replace "Daddy's Home" with "Mama's Pearl" and it's damn near perfect for a J5/Little Mike sampler.

second disc is pretty great actually. it just shouldn't have been part of the Greatest Hits album. should have been a companion project of its own, or included as a third disc in a deluxe version of the album.

For a budget release, it's quite good, it has all the number ones and the only big hit missing is Mama's Pearl. Unless of course its all later re recordings, where the artist was stoned and drunk. I have seen a lot of those, no originals but re recordings.

anyone remember Young MCs debut album "Stone Cold Rhymin" ? it had the following tracklisting:

1. I Come Off
2. Principal's Office
3. Bust a Move
4. Non Stop
5. Fastest Rhyme
6. My Name Is Young
7. Know How
8. Roll with the Punches
9. I Let 'Em Know
10. Pick Up the Pace
11. Got More Rhymes
12. Stone Cold Buggin'
13. Just Say No

later the record company put some enormous efforts into compiling Best Of Young MC by removing three songs from the debut woot! great stuff! and as an extra bonus it also got one beatutiful cover touched

1. Bust a Move
2. Principal's Office
3. Non Stop
4. My Name Is Young
5. Roll with the Punches
6. I Let 'Em Know
7. Just Say No
8. I Come Off
9. Pick Up the Pace
10. Got More Rhymes

Vanglorious... this is protected by the red, the black, and the green. With a key... sissy!
