It is a very sad week for fans of funk music with the death of Clare Fischer and the apparent suicide of SOUL TRAIN creator Don Cornelius. My thoughts go out to Cornelius' family and friends. Growing up wouldn't have been the same without the funk version of American Bandstand that he created. The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. I remember Vanity 6 on Soul Train and loving it. The Original 7ven just performed on The Soul Train awards and kicked ass. This is really sad.
