"Share My Love" is his newest euphemism for "Let Me Pee on Your Face". 비

Generic? Who else is doing music like this? When did he ever make music like this? Some of you are always reaching for something negative to say.

R. Kelly is a generic artist. He's a wannabe Marvin Gaye, but with only half the talent.

R, is that you? *smirk* 비

He's far more talented than Marvin Gaye and Whitney Houston (the one you go up for) is generic, not R. Kelly.

Philly soul ripoff.
Lately, it seems his output has been scatter shot. This is, by the way, the lead single from his forthcoming album Write Me Back, presumably a sequel to last year's Love Letter.

I'm not mad, I'm more amused that someone is actually [Snip - luv4u] enough to think R Kelly is more talented than Marvin Gaye in any way, shape or form.
Lyrically he's nowhere near Marvin's level and the guy writes about such all-important, thought-provoking topics as... feeling on women's asses . The dude was about to name his latest release "Black Panties". Listen to yourself. His songwriting is nowhere near the depth and maturity of Marvin Gaye and if you think it is [Snip - luv4u]
Vocally he's not even in the same universe as Marvin either and has nowhere near the range, power, control or the ability to convey emotion that Marvin did. To insist otherwise is incredibly disrespectful to Marvin Gaye.
[Snip - luv4u]
...You're serious?

Oh, and R. Kelly >>>>>>> Marvin Gaye.
Marvin Gaye didn't even write most of his music so the argument is moot. Vocally he was nowhere as good as his peers at the time (Donny Hathaway, Teddy Pendergrass, etc.) R. Kelly shits on all of the R&B singers of his time period. [Snip - luv4u] .
I think it's great that people compare R. Kelly to Marvin Gaye tho. Further proves that R. Kelly is a legend and one of the R&B greats. Marvin Gaye had to get shot by his own father to earn that status. By the way, while we're at it, Dren. I hope you're aware that Marvin had an affinity for underage women, as well.

How can the IMITATOR be MORE TALENTED THAN THE ORIGINAL?
No disrespect to R, but he ripped off a lot of Marvin and the Isley's. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

FYI, people compare R. Kelly and Marvin because they make (made in Marvin's case) good R&B/Soul music, they both have a big impact on black culture and also sometimes for their personal life. R. Kelly is the only living R&B artist that is often compared to the R&B greats. That should tell you something.
Marvin married a 16 year old. By law, Janis was a minor, not a consenting adult. So you should "call a spade, a spade". Where's your proof that R. Kelly lurked around high school campuses? How do you know they didn't complete puberty? Again, where's your proof? If he's a "sick son of a bitch" then so are you for supporting Marvin Gaye. A man who had a known affinity for underage women.

R., 1977 called. Lou Rawls wants his sound back.

Wow! You are really showing your ignorance here. Marvin wrote most of his material from the 70s forward. He didn't write in the 60s that much, but he did have a few songs that were hits in the 60s. "If This World Were Mine" and "The Bells" were 2 of the bigger ones.
As for Marvin's vocal stylings, he was in a class by himself (like the others you mentioned). Whether he was better or not was a matter of opinion. I will say that his voice was more diverse than some of his other peers. He could sing a classic standard like "The Very Thought Of You" just as good or better than he sang songs like "Sexual Healing."
I have no problem with you liking R, but for you to diss Marvin like this really bothers me. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

You proved my point. Marvin's career began in 1958 and he was a product of the whole Motown movement throughout the 60's. R. Kelly writes, produces and arranges all of his own music. There's a difference.
Honestly, I don't care for Marvin's vocal stylings.
How did I diss him? Just admit that you hate R. Kelly and you're mad that someone pointed out the fact that he's more talented than Marvin.

Rip off? He's influenced by them.
So I guess Prince ripped off of James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, Jimi Hendrix, etc. ?
