Most of TTD's is kinda more like long versions than actual remixes, similar to some of Prince's maxi singles like Kiss. More Control is good, but if you have the maxi singles from that album, you don't need it. Nasty had two different 12" singles though, one that sounds like the album version, and the other was the Cool Summer Mix.

That's such an odd thing to say. There are so many types of remixes; it's very hard to believe you don't like any of them. I mean, I get that it was probably hyperbole, but I'd have expected you to already come across one you liked. shrug

Is this actually good? I always wondered about it but never took the chance on it. I love me some EV!! cool

I like my Chaka straight up raw and funky. Her remix album seem to be Warner's last chance at getting Pop success out of Chaka. Is it any good? confused

Yep, many of the songs people know are actually remixes, if you hear earlier versions that were not released. Quincy Jones said that the whole Thriller album was remixed because he and Mike listened to the orginal mix and didn't like it. Same thing with Marvin Gaye's What's Going On album. Technically, even something like MTV Unplugged is a remix, because it's done in a different style to the known version. Some remixes are just someone changing the music, others the whole song is re-recorded including the vocals. In some cases the version that is most known is a remix like No One Is To Blame by Howard Jones, Freedom by Wham!, The Reflex by Duran Duran, and Let's Wait Awhile by Janet Jackson. They're different from the album versions, and the remixes were used in the music video and were played on the radio instead of the album mixes.

Yeah, some of the mixes were played on the radio. I also think it's the only place you can get their Christmas song Silent Nite.

Yep. "Take On Me" is another example of a remix. I can't imagine someone preferring the original version.

There's no new vocals, but a couple have an extra ad-lib or two. It's not a Mariah Carey style remix. Silent Nite is led by Max, but it's not remixed though. It was released on the remix album, it wasn't on any of their other albums.

A-ha? I wasn't aware of that, but I don't know anything about them other than Take On Me and Cry Wolf and that's because I used to see the videos on MTV. Rock Me Amedeus was a remix too. The orginal mix has Falco rapping in German, but most US radio stations played the one without the rap, and had the one with that "Mozart composed the Magic Flute/Mozart dies" dialogue in its place. The R&B station where I lived played the version with the rap though.

Oh ok....... I'll pass on it since I love their debut. I'm not that big on house music unless it has vocals like Martha Wash and Mariah Carey. LOL @ you somehow knowing that.

One is a house remix (Strange), but most of the rest are hip hop and New Jack Swing style. One of them has a rap added to it, but the rap is nothing special.

Only if you're someone who enjoys late '80s club & house music. Listen to the samples on Amazon.com. You can probably find most of the remixes on YouTube.

Interesting you know "Cry Wolf" but not "The Sun Always Shines on TV." Anyway, here's the original version of "Take On Me":

all three of those Janet Control Remix cds are the same except for a slight track list difference. The covers are for different markets.

I don't remember any remix for this. I know the single version had the intro chopped off, but other than that it wasn't any different. Everything She Wants had a remix that was played on the radio though. Wham! Rap had two versions with different lyrics and there was a remix on the Edge Of Heaven LP.
