Lana Del Rey

She's no flash in the pan. We will be talking 'bout her for many years to follow.

She looks emotionless. confused We'll see if she's "no flash in the pan". Depends how well this record do since it's hyped so much. I have a funny feeling it won't threaten Adele's reign but I do hope for her sake, it's stellar sales. If not oh well.

She looks and acts like something that came out of the original Stepford wives movie.

Her work is far darker than Adele's. I don't quite understand the attempt to compare them.

Because people are pitting them against each other... as babybugz pointed out one time. She can attract one crowd but I don't think her crowd has as wide a base as Adele's.

I like Adele too but people on here ignore the fact that her phenomenal success is a fluke. In this musical climate her next album probably won't sell at all. I refuse to get too excited.

Most likely. Some people got tired of Gaga they moved on to Adele some people getting tired of Adele they now moved on to Lana Del Fail. It's a circle. But I know only two out of these three girls has the most staying power.

True. Nearly anyone can make a good recording. Especially these days. u have much time and multiple takes plus studio trickery on your side. Performing live is the real test where if someone is truly gifted w a special talent it really shines through, whereas those who basically aren't that talented are shown for what they are

She has a very haunting, unique voice. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but to say she doesn't have a good voice just seems to me like a bunch of people who are too accustomed to all the bad singing of the past 20+ years or think a lip-synced performance on TV is actually authentic. Listen to her Live BBC performance of "Video Games". Screw SNL! Sure maybe a new artist who doesn't even have an album out be on there, but I've seen so many so-so performances on that show I'M too accustomed.

If she played piano her stage presence would've been a 1000% better. Had she sat on a stool without all that bright lighting we might not be discussing this right now.

She just needs to work on her stage presence, change up her style a little bit, be more energetic. She needs to tell people who dont like her to fuck off..

The reviews thus far.

"Instead “Born to Die,’’ which, following months of intense anticipation, will be released by Interscope on Tuesday, is a staggering disappointment. After a long, sweet drag on “Video Games,’’ her major-label debut feels like the sputtering cough that inevitably burns your lungs. Even with the deluxe version’s 15 songs, it’s more of a sketch than a statement."

"The first thing that will strike listeners is the disk’s near-fascistic uniformity. Every one of its 15 songs follows the style of the first single, awash in cheesy synthesized string effects, weighed down by dead-bolt beats. Both elements stifle the mix, only to swell (or, rather, bloat) at predictable moments. It’s all meant to sound grand and stately, but it feels inert, like some proto chill-pop recording left over from the ’80s. It’s so turgid, it makes Enya sound manic."

She does have a good voice, and I feel like each song could be good on its own. However, as an album....no. The songs all sound the same, and there's not a single truly upbeat song on the album. I skipped at least the last 45 seconds or so of almost all of the songs because it got so boring. Then I had to listen to disco for like an hour to wake myself up again. lol

Okay... so I finally checked out that snl performance people were tripping about and here to deliver my thoughts...

First off, that SNL performance was horrible..confused I couldnt even sit through the whole thing it was so horrible... awful live..

I listened to some of her other studio songs and they sound descent. I dont see any similiarlities with Adele though...They dont sound alike, have the same music or image... I dunno...

Shes all hype..
