I hate to say this but her voice is not my cup of tea. Bring on good music like Fiona Apple...

LOL! Lana totally reminds me of Fiona...vocally. I love 'em both! I thought the SNL performance was flawless. I still don't get why people didn't like it. Her vocals totally sold the lyrics to me.

rolleyes as if that should even matter.

but a side note, hipsters actually HATE Lana Del Rey. She's seen as an imposter and industry insider trying to ride indie buzz to success. See the god of all hipster blogs "Hipster Runoff" they changed their entire site to be a Lana bashing blog.

Hey, y'all: Comin' back in 4 a sec. When I said "Modern-Day Carly Simon," I meant lyrically she's like a modern-day Carly. Not looks-wise, vocalwise nor otherwise; only by her lyrics (sexy, feminine and deeply poetic.) I DO LOVE Carly though (especially her "Torch" CD.) Okay...shoot me NOW! smile

I read some of Lana's lyrics and compared to Carly, I still can't see how she is. shrug But hey that's your prerogative of course. lol

the album has far exceeded my expectations. I was ready for a lot of filler/samey materials with that sound she's going for, only just a few listens later and I can already recall the melody to a number of songs. lots of real catchy stuff in there. favorites so far being Diet Mtn Dew, National Anthem, Radio & Lucky Ones.

"what's that book where they're all behind the wardrobe?"

Apparently Juliette Lewis recanted her twitter statement after further listening and is now a fan.

Can someone say, "Delete Twitter Account" stat!

I think this is someone's attempt to be "indie". neutral

I found a quote from an interview she gave recently. MAAAAN, she's not a good interview either!

When asked about her musical style, the Lana Del Rey stated:

“I would have loved to be part of the indie community. But I wasn’t. I was looking for a community. I don’t even know any people who are musicians. I never met that indie popular indie, whoever the fuck that is. Who IS indie? First of all, I can’t really get my head around what indie music is. Because if you’ve heard of it, it’s sort of pop music, right? Because it’s, like, popular? Or is it just that it’s not on the radio? It’s not like I was in an indie community and then I blew up. It’s like, I was living on the street and I’m not – like, for real, you know what I’m saying?”

The music and the photos are beautiful, the performance and the personae fall quite a bit flat.

I think she'll improve, time will tell.
