He did NOT sell 1 billion worldwide. lol That would equate to 1/7th of the world. I highly doubt that.

Hmm, that's only true if everyone bought only one of his albums.

The truth is, average MJ fan would at least have 6 or 7 albums of his. That already narrows it down to 140 million people, not 1/7th of the whole world. Plus some diehard fans would have probably 20 + albums of his. -- Somehow I bought 4 Thriller albums so far...Thriller ALONE. (I bought one, and the CD case cracked, so I bought another one, and when MJ died I bought a couple copies and gave them to my friends who were not very familiar with MJ lol) -

But I'm not saying there's 100 million MJ fans in the world. I guess "billion" sounds like it's just too much. Not that the numbers really matter, at the end...

They're counting the solo Motown albums, the solo Epic albums, the countless compilations, the Jackson 5 albums, and the Jacksons albums. You gotta go all the way back to 1969 and count all of those. I wouldn't be surprised if the number came to over 800 million to a billion

I still don’t think it’s accurate as timmy was saying but I’m sure they are counting the Jackson 5/motown albums though.

Hmm, even counting all the compilations, the Jackson 5 albums, the solo Motown albums, and the Jacksons albums, that's still around 400 million or so. Far off from a billion in my estimates. So that's about the same amount the Beatles sold. shrug

When they counted it all up in '09 it was around 725 but they only counted a couple of the compilations

and DAMN, Motown seemed to just piss out compilations in the 80s and 90s neutral

But I don't really get what you're trying to say. Even if they allowed open threads, there can also be meaningless silly discussions, and what do you do? You skip those threads. Same with this sticky. No one owns it. If you think what we're talking about is not worth while, come back some other time. Or start a discussion that you think it's worth while, I'll jump right into it wink

No. I’m saying that the open threads are better because a lot of people don’t come into the sticky. Say what you want but there has been way better discussions outside the sticky . And I wasn't trying to offend but i'm not going to change my words either.

Hmm, if you weren't trying to offend, I don't think this was the right place to complain. There's site discussion subforum you can go to and you need to talk to mods about that.

Why is not the right place though? I just said we don’t need a sticky anymore and I said I’m not trying to offend because you seem to be getting offended about it. Others agreed but I’m getting jumped on as usual it’s just my opinion no one is forcing you to agree.

Who cares? A lot of them a trolls and snobbish ass Prince fans who'd just come in to point their finger at you and resume the MJ vs. Prince vendetta. Discussions always break down. The creme de la creme of fan society don't exactly hang out here, y'know.

Riff-raff the lone MJ thread in this site doesn't need if you ask me.

Slated for a late August-early September release this year. We'll be hearing the official word soon from what I was told

and yea, the Bad Tour is part of it but may be released seperately. They're still planning

They lease songs out to smaller companies and all that. They release, re-release, re-re-release

I think they're worse with Michael and Marvin over anyone. I've seen Marvin Gaye compilations at gas stations neutral

You can tell which artist they cared for the most in Motown because Michael and Marvin's compilations outnumber the rest! eek I'm shocked with how few Diana Ross compilations there are compared to Marvin and, especially, Michael.

I wonder if Motown has live performance footage from the Jackson 5 tours. They should issue that one when they were performing in Mexico in 1975 (which didn't feature Jermaine). I don't know if it's still on YouTube or not, that was a good show. Michael was going through a transition vocally, career-wise and performance wise at the time of that performance. I think they were about to leave Motown when they did that show.

Yeah I don't know what Motown is actually WAITING for. Ain't like the actual company's releases are making ANY money anyways, so why not? Motown has a chance to make old fans of the Jackson 5 and Michael happy with putting out concert DVDs or what not but they still seem to be sitting on them.

Yeah it’s weird. I would think 2009 and 2010 would be floods of stuff but I’m a little surprise there wasn’t. Yeah we had magazines, books some greatest hits albums but it could have been more I would have thought anyway. I don't know maybe they thinking all these things are on youtube they don't need to release it shrug

That may be a reason. And I know they wanted to make money but for some reason they're not doing it so letting it be on YouTube could be a reason I don't know.
